The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has suspended government financial support to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) due to the senior men’s national team’s persistent poor performance, following their recent defeat.
It has also warned other federations to rectify their internal issues.
Following the suspension of government funding to Football Association of Zambia, the Ministry of Youth Sports and Arts has demanded FAZ to provide a detailed justification for why government should continue funding the association.
In a letter written to FAZ, Ministry of Youth Sports and Arts permanent secretary Kangwa Chileshe expressed that despite the country’s financial constraints, Government continued providing financial resources to the Senior mens football team but the team continues with its poor form.
