Game time is the reason why Patson Daka settled for Leicester City

Zambian forward Patson Daka,21 has opted to join English Premier League side Leicester City because they guarantee him game time, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.

According to the ZamFoot Crew sources, Daka’s handlers held talks with a host of English teams including West Ham and Liverpool about a possible deal but it was Leicester who offered the much-needed game time.

“Yes, talks with several various clubs which have been mentioned were held but his handlers made it clear that he was only to join a club which was going to offer him game time,” a ZamFoot Crew source said.

“For instance one of the big clubs held talks with his people and both sides were honest with each other.

“The club were eager to sign him but didn’t see him as a first-choice center forward. They wanted him to start as a fringe player. But his management didn’t agree with that proposal.”

With that background, it was agreed that King Power Stadium was the right destination for the Kafue native.

The Brendan Rodgers-coached side is expected to announce the signing of the former Kafue Celtic starlet by Monday from Austrian side Redbull Salzburg.

Daka who is currently on holiday in Zambia becomes the fifth Zambian to join an English side.

Former Chipolopolo strikers Emmanuel Mayuka and Collins Mbesuma had unsuccessful spells with Southampton and Portsmouth respectively.

Daka scored 68 goals and registered 27 assists in 125 games for the Austrian giants.

  1. the EPL is tough. especially for strikers. timo werner scored 12 goals this season and was cosidered a flop. thats why Igalo failed. Patson should have agreed to be a fringe player. that way you learn in the job how to adjust to top flight football. but coming in as a main man you have to arrive scoring goals. theres simply no time for a player from africa to adjust. mark my words Daka will fail in England.

  2. Don’t know about this move! With Jamie Vardy and Ieanacho already in the team, how do we expect Daka to be a starter?

  3. I equally have reservations on the assured game time, because Vardy is the first choice and Inahachoa second who was on fire towards the end of the season. I thought West Ham was better, because Antonia is the only recognised striker at the club.

  4. Leanacho came alive the last 25% of the season while Vardy is aging and has a goal in him every third game or so.
Patson will get game time in this team, and besides his fast running can also allow him to operate on the right side of the field like Rashfold does for United allowing all three strikers to be used in a game…
The club also showed great consistency throughout the season until the last four games! Good move…

  5. I hope the young man gets the game time as promised. Other wise he will be finished like his other ian brothers who have played in Europe. Go Partison go. All the best….

  6. All the best… being on the fringes or the main striker is one thing, performing when you are the field is what matters… we definitely aren’t wishing Daka to fail. Some players have finished whilst on the fringes… I commend the mind set of PD’s handlers. Our beloveds King David and Mayuka were on the fringes as it were but things didn’t work out well. PD believe and move on… you are well able and your faith plus hard work will speak for you. Success and His Shalom.

  7. I disagree. Its not everyone who fails.nothing special about…even the Top 3 best players in the world dont play in the EPL Messi..Ronaldo..Neymer..Mppape..Lewandowski..Lukaku

  8. Congrats Daka. Please maintain the discipline you have always been known for. Follow the diet of Ronaldo if possible. Be confident all the time you are on the pitch as you have always done that. God bless you. Zambia is behind you and we are now leceister fans. At least for now

  9. This is a good move if we are to look at market value and the future, he needs to learn the English way of play and he needs game time so this is quite a brilliant and excellent move, if he joined Liverpool and failed to tick her was going to be put on loan then sold after as a result his market value is affected because Liverpool would have sold him for peanuts just to recover and cut their losses but if he ticks at King power he will be expensive to buy like Mahrez, so this move is quite good and is strategically planned, to Patson Daka learn from Cristiano Ronaldo and to his managers nuff respect on this move.

  10. I disagree with you @Stumpy. Paston won’t fail. He is a fighter this young man. With a Coach that will support him like Bredan he will prove you wrong all doubters. Vardy will be 35 in a couple of months. He can no longer last 90 minutes on the pitch.

Its up to Patson to grab every opportunity when given to him.

Leicester will be good club for him to show case his talent. The play at a high pace and that’s a type of game that suits Patson. We have seen Vardy use his pace, go behind defenders and score goals that’s what Patson thrives on.

  11. Its OK, let Parson Daka go to Leicester City he will do well. let us just wish him well . Mbesuma failed because of other reasons. Patson Daka looks disciplined. Leicester City visited Zambia in 1972. So Patson we wish you well we will follow your exploits

  12. It’s to get what is given. Liverpool usually get their man. Leicester is top four so to move. Avoid icho, aza kutilila.
