From Kafue to Europe: Samson Ngulube seals Finnish top-flight move

Zambia Under-20 defender Samson Ngulube has completed a move from Kafue Celtic to Finnish top-flight side IFK Mariehamn after signing a two-year contract, with an option for a further year.

The 19-year-old left-back leaves the ZPL Men’s National League after impressing during a trial stint in November, prompting Mariehamn to secure his services ahead of the 2026 Veikkausliiga season.

Kafue Celtic confirmed the transfer on social media, describing the deal as another milestone in the club’s commitment to developing players capable of competing at the highest level.

Ngulube is regarded as one of the brightest young defenders in Zambian football, having combined consistent club form with appearances for the Zambia Under-20 national team.

He now joins IFK Mariehamn as they prepare to kick off their 2026 league campaign against TPS on Wednesday, with the Finnish side aiming to improve on last season’s ninth-place finish.
