Friday Samu might make his Maritzburg United debut today

Zambian forward Friday Samu could make his debut for Maritzburg United this evening as they host Supersport United in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.

The lanky forward penned a two year deal with the team of choice last month to complete his switch from Zambia Super League side, Green Buffaloes.

Prior to his switch, Samu was ruthless in front of goals for Green Buffaloes netting 14 goals in 18 matches in the on going 2021/2022 MTN Super League season.

On his unveiling, The 27-year-old goal poacher said he was excited to start a new chapter of his career with Maritzburg United and promised the fans that he would do his best.

“I’m very excited to have joined the team and to the supporters I promise that I will do my best to contribute and make sure we progress as a team,” Samu said.

Meanwhile Matsatsantsa are expected to line up Gamphani Lungu who has been enjoying some good form this season and has managed five goals in 15 games in all competitions.

Supersport last won the Nedbank Cup in 2016/2017 season and will be looking to progress to the round of 16 with easy.

Maritzburg United were Nedbank Cup finalists in 2018 and were beaten 3-1 by Orlando Pirates in the last 16 in last season’s competition.

The Team of Choice will square off against Matsatsantsa at the Harry Gwala Stadium at 18:00hrs live on Supersport PSL channel.
