Forest Rangers move into top four as Napsa Stars edge Prison Leopards

Forest Rangers thrashed bottom-placed Kitwe United 4-0 to move into the top four while NAPSA Stars edged inform Prison Leopards to end the Collection Boys 4 match winning streak on Sunday as action from week 12 of the MTN/FAZ Super League concluded.

At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Forest Rangers welcomed whipping Boys of the 2020/2021 season, Kitwe United as they were aiming to break into the top four with a win.

Fole Malembe dominated the match from the onset but was very poor in the final third in the opening 25 minutes. Rangers finally got their opening goal in the 29th minute as Shadreck Malambo connected with a perfectly weighted ball from Taonga Bwembya to beat Ching’ambu Haveson in the Chingalika goal.

In the second half, Forest Rangers came back a little more determined to finish off the match as Quadri Kola doubled the lead just five minutes into the second stanza with a fine finish and it was 3-0 four minutes later as Moses Lolozi put the ball in his net amid pressure from Lameck Silwaba.

Kola completed his brace with an easy tap in additional time to seal what was a dominant performance for the Tenant Chilumba tutored outfit who move up to 3rd place on the log with 19 points from the ten games they have played and just two points adrift of the log leaders Sensational Zanaco despite playing three games less. Kitwe United on the other end remains rooted at the bottom of the log with 4 points.

At Woodlands Stadium, Napsa Stars welcomed inform Prison Leopards with the two teams looking at different prospects, The Pensioners aiming to move towards leaving the relegation zone while the Collection Boys were targeting reclaiming the top spot.

It was the Collection Boys who struck first as David Obashi put them in the lead in the 16th minute but Emmanuel Mayuka levels matters in the 35th minute from the penalty spot.

Mayuka had a chance to put the Pensioners in the lead again from the penalty spot but his effort hit the post. Simon Nkhata however secured maximum points for Mohamed Fathi and his men with a late strike after benefiting from a lapse at the back. Prison Leopards remain second on the log despite the loss while NAPSA Stars move up to 15th place with ten points from eight games played so far.
