Forest Rangers are the first super division team to fire their coach this season while Tenant Chilumba of Power Dynamos seems to be walking a tight rope after receiving a one game ultimatum.
Forest fired Simonda Kaunda after their 1 – 0 home loss to Nkwazi which saw them remain in the relegation with five points after 7 games.
Forest Chairperson Benhill Mukuka confirmed the firing of the head coach and his assistant to the Times of Zambia.
“Yes Simonda Kaunda has been fired together with his first assistant Israel Mwanza with immediate effect owing to a string of poor results.
“If you look at the games we have played this season, out of the seven games played so far, we have only managed to win only one game. The performance of the team has been poor and disappointing hence the decision to let the coaches go,” said Mukuka.
Second assistant Owen Kaposa will take charge in the interim as negotiations with the new man are ongoing but are expected to be concluded soon.
Ironically Chilumba’s Power Dynamos also face Nkwazi in their next fixture and the head coach has been told to win the game or face the axe.
“We have reached a critical point where results are not coming. We have lost 10 points from four matches …Chilumba’s job can only be safe based on performance. If results are not coming, he risks his job,” POWER Dynamos chairman Gilbert Simakoloyi told The Post
“We have a must-win game against N
kwazi, it’s a last chance, the team has to deliver. If not, it is possible we might see casualties.”
The ZamFoot Crew also understands that Napsa Stars have fired Wilson Mwale.
t.c should leave power, the team is not gud at oo!
Why didnt they talk of a draw!. I feel Nkwazi is not just an average team but a team which has a program n an active adminstration. Steward may just break the power fans hearts. sorry for Tenant.
Tough times for coaches.
The writing is on the wall for TC whether power beat nkwazi or not I think he is history!
It looks like they just want the guy out, whatever happens. I am sure the Chabinga story was not just smoke – theres a fire burning somewhere.
sometimes these officials tend to rush into firing coaches for them to bury their flaws.Mostly these officials are to blame and not coaches. SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING AT MIGHTY.
