Football House opens as FAZ, ZRA agree on payment

The Football Association of Zambia and the Zambia Revenue Authority have this morning successfully held a meeting to discuss the way forward over an unsettled statutory obligation which led the Tax Authority into sealing off Football House yesterday afternoon.
In the said meeting which was held in a cordial atmosphere at Revenue House in Lusaka,The Association acknowleged the existence of the amount in question and proposed a “Time to Pay” agreement with the ZRA officers.
As an Association, we are glad that the Zambia Revenue Authority has agreed to our proposal and given guidance within the provisions of the law on the best way to handle and defray the debt which is just above One Million Kwacha. Operations at Football House are expected to resume by midday.
The Association wishes to state further that the outstanding obligation has been accrued during a period when Zambia achieved several unprecedented milestones in the country’s football history .i.e.
1. The Chipolopolo Under Seventeen Women national soccer team qualified to the FIFA Women World Cup in Costa Rica at the end of 2013.
2. In 2014 The Women Senior team made its maiden appearance at the Continental Championships.
3. More accolades were also recorded when the Under Seventeen men’s team made history by qualifying to the country’s first ever Africa Cup finals in that age category.
4. And after an absence of seven years the Under Twenty men’s team also qualified to the Africa Cup in Senegal earlier this year.
5. And just recently the Under Twenty Three squad also qualified to the Senegal Championships slated for November this year.
6. To conclude the “Hall of Fame” appearance, the Zambia CHAN squad 72 hours ago made to the finals in Rwanda.
All these participations have adversely affected the coffers for the Association especially that these are borne exclusively by FAZ. However, It is important to note that the decisions to enter all these competitions, have been made to ultimately strengthen the senior teams and give the country a firm ground on which to stand among the continent’s football power houses. This reality has been achieved.
The Football Association wishes to reiterate its commitment to meeting the ZRA obligations and are very glad that the meeting went ahead successfully

  1. I don’t understand here. How can someone say that the money was accrued as result of Zambia achieving several unprecedented milestones in the country’s football history. This is a lie and is just an excuse for financial mismanagement at Football House. I think FAZ should be audited thoroughly and made to account on how they spend the money. I am still not convinced and for that matter we are talking about ZRA here. How did FAZ accrue money from ZRA? Is it in form of taxes or what?

  2. FAZ is very poor when it comes to finances…very suspicious because there is no accountability. When was the last time FAZ announced the gate takings? FAZ you have to acknowledge the law pay TAXEs not making excuses about achievements, we need accountability in FAZ and ZRA also where were you for you to resurface now about the due taxes….what we know is that every company or association is suppose to pay their tax in 3 months time e.g jan, feb and march they pay in april now why don’t make follow ups? But please accountability in FAZ start announcing gate takings for each game.

  3. Just has much as i dispise that billionior of a pathetic clown Donald Trump but his recent comments that Africans know nothing about leadership are very true.we are now just reduced to free every thing soo pathetic.

  4. what are they even giving those qualifications as an excuse when they give close to nothing allowances to those players but them, kalu and his fellow clowns never go without being paid. The truth pains but i agree with Trump that Africa need to be recolonised for another hundred years until it put its house in order with the exception of north arab nations, even South Africa now has gone to dogs Lord just what is wrong with a NIGGER.

  5. I have said it numerous times on this blog, the current FAZ executive is useless! How do they allow a junior to issue a press staement over a very serious matter like this one. They know Kalu is on the gravvy train bankrolled by the Faz coffers. When something like this comes up, the President shudnt duck the issue! The bugger has something to hide! For more than 10 years he has been flying between jhb and Lusaka, who pays his bills, rentals etc Rupiah Banda was right after all!

  6. In as much as we appreciate the achievements of FAZ but for real can you FAZ clarify on kalusha bwalya staying in SA, who pays his travelling costs? Why can’t you stay in Zambia lusaka to be precise? Every time we hear stories of players not paid, venue for hosting games not being paid faz what’s your. Problem kanshi?

  7. Nkweto is campaigning or trying to sway our mind into other issues..what has qualifications got to do with payment of tax to ZRA? Government has sponsored the national team at any level. Look fellow bloggers..
    1. This is incompetence at highest level..Councillors remove these guys..
    2. Payment of players very pathetic..players need to cry e.g women team.
    3. Owes Heroes stadium colossal amount of money…
    4. Owes Levy stadium in Ndola more money..
They have all failed, they need to go…the current management is a failure…

  8. @ billy and company what Zambia has achieved it happened for the first time in history of zambian football.. Faz had no capacity to fund all those activities and you should not forget that Zambia is a poor nation and most of tha people are living in abject poverty. No one is in a position to donate or fund towards the development of football .. If you not blind check with local clubs is there any club which is surviving with gate takings .. This is the best and the busiest ever faz.. In the past Zambia had only little achievements as compared to the current..

  9. How can an achievement become burden? Are we always planning for failure?…qualification to major tournaments should not be used as an excuse unless someone tells me that faz plans to fail each year so as to pay up taxes then I will agree with that but even then it doesn’t make sense. How have they been surviving all this while? Please guys lets be serious & learn to tell the truth cause its obvious something is wrong. The women’s team literary got nothing for partcipating in an afcon competition then you come here and say they too contributed for your failure to the the tax collector?? Get real

    • I’m not backing FAZ but I think what FAZ is telling us is that most of the Teams did so well and in view of the same, travel expenses, winning bonuses and other expenses were incurred. In other words the income was less than the expenses because they entered almost all the teams in all the competitions

      • @ Shade-beat, brother man what you saying is the latter. FAZ is just pathetic just like the way they have put it just a million kwacha. in old currency that is 1 billion kwacha but the FAZ vuvuzela is saying Just. The truth of the matter here is Zamfoot reporter also is to blame, the Pay as You Earn FAZ is owing tax man dates back to 2011 , the reporting here lacks merit, Zamfoot tell us what you have investigated not what Tembwe told you, never relaying on the information from the culprit because you will be sugar coated. FAZ offices where closed on Thursday and I stand to be collected, then in the morning on Friday up until the meeting was over around 11 thats when offices where opened. Please avoid plagiarism sometimes wen reporting. ZRA have refused to enter into TTP unless FAZ submit certain information to tax man !

      • From LISTENING comes wisdom from TALKING come REPENTENCE. My brother best you keep quiet and not just write for the sake of writing especially that even your handsome face is displayed So disappoitig that one can even have the guts to write what you wrote.
