Zambia’s first Chipolopolo contingent is expected to arrive in Algeria this morning ahead of Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Desert Foxes.
The delegation, comprising mostly locally based players, four foreign-based players and members of the technical bench, departed Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka at 13:00 on Saturday.
The contingent is scheduled to land in Algiers this morning before travelling onwards to Tizi Ouzou, around 100 kilometres from the Algerian capital, where Friday’s Group I encounter will be played.
Meanwhile, Egypt-based duo David Simukonda and Pascal Phiri have already arrived in Algeria and are the first Chipolopolo players to reach the country.
The two players touched down at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers at 11:55 on Saturday aboard an EgyptAir flight and were received by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Head of Media and Communications Nkweto Tembwe.
Zambia face Algeria on Friday, 25 September, before hosting Togo four days later at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The Chipolopolo will be looking to make a positive start to their Group I campaign as they begin their bid to qualify for the 2027 AFCON finals.
