Nkana Football Club’s registration ban has been permanently lifted, world football governing body FIFA has confirmed.
The ban stemmed from a matter involving former Nkana player Etienne Matiaba, relating to a ‘small contractual penalty’ claimed in connection with his previous contract.
The development follows Nkana FC’s settlement of the contractual penalty in full, bringing the matter involving Matiaba to a close and prompting the creditor to request the lifting of the registration ban.
In correspondence dated 28 August 2026, FIFA informed Nkana FC that proceedings in the matter had been closed after Matiaba’s side requested the lifting of the registration ban.
“Accordingly, we understand that our services are no longer required and hereby inform you that the present proceedings against the Respondent are now closed,” FIFA stated.
“By the same token, the registration ban previously implemented on the Respondent has been permanently lifted.”
FIFA has further requested the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to immediately lift the corresponding ban imposed on Nkana FC at national level.
The lifting of the ban clears the registration restriction relating specifically to this matter as Kalampa continue preparations for the 2026 MTN Super League Transition Season.
FIFA has clarified that the order is exclusively related to the ban imposed in this particular matter and is without prejudice to any other registration ban that may currently be imposed on the club.
