FAZ Women’s Super League: ZESCO Ndola Girls reclaim top spot as Indeni Roses and Queens suffer defeats

The FAZ Women’s Super League entered Week 21 of action on Saturday with three mouthwatering encounters played across three different cities in Kabwe, Lusaka, and Ndola.

The ZamFoot Crew was on hand to witness the action at Jasmine Ground, Indeni Sports Complex, and at Margaret Mwanakatwe Bauleni Community ground.

Queens Academy 1-2 Mufulira Wanderers (Esther Siamfuko | Regina Kayamboma, Angela Chibango)

In Kabwe, it was a disappointing day for Queens Academy in an early kick-off match against Mufulira Wanderers which ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors.

Wanderers scored through Regina Kayamboma and Angela Chibango to ensure maximum points while Zambia U-20 Women’s national team defender, Esther Siamfuko found the back of the net for Queens.

BUSA Queens 1-3 ZESCO Ndola Girls (Elizabeth Lubasha | Avel Chitundu, Thandiwe Ndhlovu, Happy Pinto)

Meanwhile, in Lusaka, ZESCO Ndola Girls reclaimed top position on the log standings after they silenced BUSA Queens 3-1 at Margaret Mwanakatwe Bauleni Stadium and top the table with 48 points, one point more than Green Buffaloes who have a date with Red Arrows on Monday.

First-half goals from Avel Chitundu, Thandiwe Ndhlovu, and Happy Pinto were enough for Zegalicious to claim maximum points over the Stubborn BUSA who scored the consolation through club top goal scorer Elizabeth Lubasha.

Indeni Roses 0-1 YASA Queens (Florence Kasonde)

Elsewhere in Ndola, YASA Queens defied all odds as they recorded a hard-fought 1-nil victory over Indeni Roses.

Fresh from a 4-2 defeat to BUSA in Midweek, YASA Queens bounced back to winning ways as Florence Kasonde scored the only goal of the match in the second half to inflict a painful 1-nil loss to The Roses.

The action will continue tomorrow as Lusaka Dynamos Ladies host Nkana Queens at NASDEC Ground while Nkwazi will entertain National Assembly at Edwin Imboela Stadium with both matches set to kick-off at 10:00hrs.

Later in the day in a lunchtime kick-off in Solwezi, Police Dove Queens will welcome Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club whereas Red Arrows will play host to Green Buffaloes on Monday in a Blockbuster match in top spot fight.
