The 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League action enters Week 4 this weekend with 5 matches expected to take center stage across the country while 2 games have been postponed.
On Saturday, 10th April 2021 only 3 games will be played with Lusaka hosting 2 of them while the other one will be played on the Copperbelt Province.
Second-placed Indeni Roses will take a long trip from the Copperbelt to Lusaka as they get set to play against Lusaka Dynamos in a top spot battle because it’s going to be a winner’s takes all in terms of leading the log standings.
Both sides are coming from draws in their previous matches so expectations are high on both ends.
Roses Captain Esther ‘Onga’ Mukwasa has predicted a tough game but she says they are ready to collect maximum points because they are not under pressure despite missing some of the key players owing to injuries.
“Despite having challenges due to some of our players being injured we will work hard in tomorrow’s game against Lusaka Dynamos because it is not going to be easy for us but we are coming for the maximum three points,” Mukwasa said.
“Being the captain and top goal scorer in the team doesn’t give me any pressure at in because all I doing is focusing on tomorrow’s game so that I help my team to get maximum points and looking forward to keeping scoring on every chance,” she added.
The Elite Ladies and The Oilo Ladies will lock horns at NASDEC Sports Complex with a kick-off set for 11:00hrs.
Nkana Stadium in Kitwe will see Nkana Queens who are hoping to redeem themselves as they search for their first win of the season take on rejuvenated side Queens Academy who collected maximum points last weekend at the expense of ZISD.
This will be an interesting game and it can go either way with The Red Queens banking on home ground advantage while Queens Academy will rely on goal Poacher Lillian Mwaba who scored a hattrick in the previous game for the Queens of Central Province.
It will be an early kick-off set for 10:00hrs.
In the afternoon, Zambia Institute For Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club will welcome Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA Queens) at Independence Stadium in a battle for maximum points as both teams are yet to record victories with ZISD managing only a point from 3 games while BUSA has 2 points to their name.
BUSA Queens coach Kaluba Kangwa has told the ZamFoot Crew that his lasses are looking forward to the game and this will be an opportunity for other players to shine and rise to the occasion especially in the absence of Esther ‘Gelo’ Banda who is away with the Women’s National Team in South Africa for. friendly match.
Banda captained BUSA Queens in their last two matches and the Under-17 gaffer believes he has a lot of options to choose from in his team.
“We look forward to the game against ZISD which will be very interesting and challenging considering that both teams have not won any game so far,” Kaluba said.
“Despite missing the services of Esther Banda due to her involvement on National Team duties, we have so many players who haven’t played and their game time is low. Hence this game will help us learn more on what the new replacement can do and also what the team has to do to get its adaption in this regard.”
This match will kick off at 15:00hrs.
Sunday action will see YASA Queens playing host to National Assembly in a Lusaka Derby that promises to be a cracker at the Hospice Grounds.
Stubborn YASA will be aiming for maximum points especially coming from back-to-back draws while The Parliamentarians will be hoping to redeem themselves after last weekend’s loss at the hands of Green Buffaloes.
These two sides will Square off at 15:00hrs.
Elsewhere on the Copperbelt Province, League favorites Zesco Ladies Football Club will welcome Mufulira Wanderers at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola.
Zegalicious is bubbling with confidence coming from a well-fought victory away in Solwezi and they will be hoping to continue from where they left from but coming up against an unpredictable Mighty Girls will be a tricky encounter for Coach William Zulu drilled lasses as both sides have the same number of points.
Zesco defender Mutale Chisanga knows well what is at stake and she says they are not underrating any team.
“The game we will be playing against Mufulira Wanderers won’t be easy but as of now we don’t underrate any team we just have to work very hard together with my team so that we collect the maximum 3 points.” Chisanga Mutale speaking.
The match will kick off at 15:00hrs.
However, Green Buffaloes and Nkwazi as well as Red Arrows and Police Doves Queens matches have been postponed owing to the number of players Buffaloes and Arrows have contributed to the senior women’s national team who are on international duty.
