Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s Super entered Week 22 of action on Wednesday with quite interesting results recorded as Nkana Queens managed to record their first-ever victory this season after thrashing Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club while Indeni Roses won Bragging Rights in the Ndola derby.
The ZamFoot Crew takes an in-depth round-up of all the action as it unfolded in Lusaka and on the Copperbelt Province.
Nkana Queens 4-1 ZISD (Charity Mubanga x2, Mary Njobvu, Hope Nalungwe | Lungowe Namasiku)
Nkana Queens on Wednesday afternoon recorded a historical victory as they picked up their first win of the season after thrashing visitors from Lusaka Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD) Women Football Club in a match played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Charity Mubanga was the hero for the Red Queens as she scored a brace while Mary Njobvu and Hope Nalungwe contributed a goal each whereas Lungowe Namasiku scored the consolation goal for ZISD in the dying minutes of the game.
ZESCO Ndola Girls 0-1 Indeni Roses (Esther Mushota)
ZESCO Ndola Girls failed to reclaim the top spot on the log standings as they suffered a setback after losing 1-0 to Indeni Roses in a Ndola Derby played on Wednesday afternoon at Trade Fair Ground.
Roses striker Esther Mushota scored the only goal of the match in the 4th minute of the first half and that early goal was enough to hand the coach Wisdom Kaira drilled lasses a victory as they bounced back to winning ways after last weekend’s disappointing defeat to YASA Queens.
YASA Queens 0-0 Red Arrows
Fresh from a hard-fought 1-nil victory over Indeni Roses last weekend, YASA Queens played host to Red Arrows who suffered a shocking 5-0 loss at the hands of Green Buffaloes on Monday.
The Stubborn YASA and The Air Ladies failed to unlock the deadlock in this particular match with Melissa Mataba missing a penalty as Daines Kasoka in goal for Arrows rose to the party today as she put behind Monday’s loss and she was a darling putting up impressive saves to deny YASA the much-needed goals and kept a clean sheet away from home.
On the other hand, Inghutu Muchahabali was almost caught unaware by League top Goalscorer Grace Chanda but her close-range effort was denied by the YASA goal custodian as history repeated itself as spoils were shared yet again with a goalless draw after the two teams battled to a 4-4 scoreline in the reverse fixture.
National Assembly 0-0 Queens Academy
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, league draw specialists National Assembly Women Football recorded their 12th draw of the season after they were held to a goalless draw by Queens Academy from Kabwe in an early kick-off at Lusaka’s Showgrounds.
It was a cagey affair between The Parliamentarians and The Royal Ladies as both sides did not create so many goalscoring opportunities but failed to utilize the few chances they had and at the end of the day, spoils were shared.
Week 22 action will continue today, Thursday 11th November 2021 with only one match to look out for as log leaders Green Buffaloes Women Football Club hosts Lusaka Dynamos at Green Square Ground in Arakan at 10:00hrs.
