FAZ: We are ready to announce new coach, but…..

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says the engagement of the national team coach is hindered by a ‘finer’ detail which the association has to finalise with Government.

Robinson Kunda of the Daily Mail reports that FAZ head of club licensing Erick Mwanza said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the association has finished the process of identifying a coach.

Mwanza said Government is FAZ’s biggest partner and they are working on ensuring the process of recruiting a new coach is concluded before next month’s 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.

He could not disclose the ‘finer’ detail which is hindering the engagement of the coach.

“At this moment, I can safely say we are ready to announce the name of our new coach. But there is just one little finer detail we are working on with Government.

“We are very happy with the commitment Honourable Vincent Mwale and his team are showing towards this exercise of engaging an expatriate coach and we shall forever remain indebted to Government,” Mwanza said.

He said there is no need to worry because FAZ and Government are working hard to conclude the process.
Zambia face Kenya in Nairobi on September 5.

Zesco United’s George Lwandamina is currently at the helm of the Chipolopolo and is assisted by Fighton Simukonda.

  1. Faz is yet to pay The CHAN players their due while they r able to pay kalusha bwalya hotel bills at Pamodzi Hotel when he is in the Country

  2. Am not sure there is any FA president all over the world that lives in another country and controls activity in his country. There is a different between being a good footballer during your playing days and football administration.Someone should be able to challenge Kalu for the presidency not necessarily an ex footballer but someone who understands the game and can manage the FA better. I cant imagine Kwesi Nyantakyi(Ghana FA president) moving out of Ghana for no reason to go and stay in another country

  3. If the official announcement of the coach is not done by end of next week, George Lwandamina should be in charge of the match against Kenya. We don’t need another silly result to be blamed on lack of adequate time for the new coach. Days are gone when we just had to show up in order to thump the likes of Kenya. This is going to be a tough match.

    • Yes this is what Faz should be thinking, ensuring order, contingency and preperstion for the match is in place.

  4. It boggles the mind how the Zambian public is easily hoodwinked by individuals of average intelligence such as Kalu and Eric. For over 15 months, during Erics absence , the lies were far in between! Now the master ‘bootlicker and plumber’ is back. Funny how bloggers swallows Mwanzas lies! There is no finer detail. In fact the U23 camping in Europe is all BS to me! Truth of the matter is they will end up at Kalus wife’s camp in RSA, where breakfast is at a premium. Guys this is the only place in the World where the head of a Sports Association resides in a foreign country just to be near his girlfriend; this at great cost to the tax payers. Someone please total up how much this has cost FAZ over the years to maintain this ‘gipsy’ at expensive hotels plus the amounts in air tickets to from JHb.!

  5. TP Vs Smouha of Egypt
Good to see Kabaso Chongo reclaiming his position in the TP lineup. Sinkala also came in as a sub halfway through the game and Singuluma appeared in the last 5 minutes. Final score TP 1 and Egyptians 0. TP tops the group with 8 point with a foot in the semis.

  6. All African FAs have problems but Zambias FA president living in a foreign country & controlling ZAMBIAN soccer telepathically/by remote control is mind boggling. THERE SHOULD BE A REVOLT BY THE LOVING FANS OF THE GAME. Where on earth will thus happen except AFRICA ? Can this EVER HAPPEN IN : England, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Panama, Mexico, Italy, even China? Why should the people be tolerating this nonsense? Is it our fear of the unknown, our timidity, an underlying culture of not questioning authority, or WHAT IS IT? Could someone enlighten me on this? Please do.
