FAZ to decide Sven’s fate post Namibia game

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Vice president Rix Mweemba has dispelled reports by some members of the fourth estate that they have renewed the contract of Chipolopolo head coach Sven Vandenbroeck.

Mweemba said in a media briefing at football house today that Vandenbroeck’s contract was still running until the Namibia dead-rubber game, adding that FAZ will decide on whether to extend his stay or server ties thereafter.

The FAZ Veep said that they need to sit with the major stakeholder – the government to chart the way forward on the future of the Belgian coach with Chipolopolo. He clarified that both parties were still tied on an old contract and nothing has been renewed yet.

“Sven Vandenbroeck is the national team head coach and his contract ends after the Namibia game which will be played in March. After that the executive committee of the Football Association of Zambia  will sit to chart the way forward,” The FAZ Vice-president said.

“Because we have to sit down with the stakeholders, the major stakeholders in this case being government and then see the way forward. But his contract ends in march and that’s when all the decisions will be made.

“The contract ends in March and that’s when we shall have the decision. Meaning that we are still standing with the old contract.

  1. Why aren’t FAZ ever just solid with decision making. What’s with the merry go round all the time a decision has to be made? The mandate was qualification to Afcon, he has failed to meet the mandate requirements therefore he should go, that’s it. Why all this ” we need to sit with the government and chart the way forward blah blah blah!!!!”. There is only one thing that is more dead rubber than the Nambia game and that it the Football Association of Zambia under the leadership of Kamanga.
