FAZ is inexperience as Grant blames them for poor travel arrangements

👉 They put us through a 30-hour flight with 9-hour connections

👉 We lost 11 training units and another 2 training games

👉 I’m only talking about objective reasons that I’ve never come across in my career

Chipolopolo Boys coach Avram Grant has said poor travel arrangements by FAZ are partly to blame for the dismissal performance in Ivory Coast.

“The travel arrangements hurt us very sharply. We only made good preparations because I have Jamie Lawrence in the team, a fitness trainer who is an expert in these things and we trained the players” Grant told Israeli newspaper ONE.

Grant also revealed that the team missed about 11 training sessions as earlier confirmed by the ZamFoot Crew earlier on Monday.

“They put us through a 30-hour flight with 9-hour connections. One flight had 4 stops in the middle and as a result, we lost 11 training units and another 2 training games.”

The 68 year old went on to say had Chipolopolo had a proper training program prior to AFCON, they could have matched the likes of Morocco and DR Congo.

“In the second-half against Morocco we surpassed them in terms of physical fitness, it should have been like that from the first game but we lacked training” he added

The former Chelsea and West Ham coach said he was experiencing this for the first time in his long career.

“I’m not afraid to say they that they’ll say I’m making excuses but I’m only talking about objective reasons that I’ve never come across in my career.”

Grant also lashed out on the Andrew Kamanga led FAZ executive together with his General Secretary Reuben Kamanga for their lack of experience.

“It is not only that the players are inexperienced, the entire management of the association in Zambia is also inexperienced and one that is not from football and has never been to the African Championship (AFCON),

“The first time they (FAZ) understood what they were doing was when we played against Cameron, where Samuel Eto’o is the chairman and he explained to them the conditions and how many practice matches they played, how many training sessions they did and that they flew in a direct flight from Dubai unlike us”

And finally Grant also retaliated that Rodrick Kabwe’s red card wasn’t.

“If it wasn’t for the refereeing in the second game in which they gave us a red card that was later proven not to have been, and a penalty that was to our credit but was not given, we would gone up despite everything.”
