THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is in a predicament over the hosting of this weekend’s Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea Bissau as Levy Mwanawasa management wants upfront payment because of the over K1 million owed.
Moses Chimfwembe of the Times of Zambia reports that management at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, which FAZ has named as the venue for this group E encounter, are demanding that Football House makes an upfront payment ahead of the match.
Levy Stadium management director Mwifwa Ng’ambi said in an interview that his team is not willing to allow FAZ to stage the game at the ultra-modern facility before making a payment.
“We would like a situation where FAZ makes a payment upfront because they all disappear after every game and the debt keeps on accumulating,” Ng’ambi said.
FAZ owes the stadium management over K1million in unpaid venue fees which date back to 2013 when the facility hosted the Brazil 2014 World Cup and Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup qualifiers.
Ng’ambi, who confirmed FAZ’s request to have the match staged at Levy stadium, said it does not make business sense for his management to provide a service to the clients that cannot settle the bills.
“They just pushed in an inquiry and made the usual request where they want us to prepare the facility but we cannot prepare the venue in a situation where some people are not paying,” Ng’ambi said.
FAZ enjoys a discounted rate of K185, 000 against a commercial rate of K268,000 to host an international match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Ng’ambi has since written to the Copperbelt provincial administration seeking intervention in the matter.
“We have tried to remind FAZ on the debt so that at least they can commit themselves but they are not picking our calls and we have our own challenges that we need to sort out,” he said.
When contacted, FAZ general secretary George Kasengele declined to comment on the matter.
“I cannot comment on this issue because we are engaging government,” Kasengele said.

Why always FAZ!Pay up the money or else use Musa Kasonka Stadium!
when you grow FAZ? if you can even manage to arrange for a match venue, why are you in the offices? you can’t even manage to negotiate with the stadium management how then can you even manage to pay players themselves? give way for others gentlemen bena kasengele

Can England National Team use the Wembley stadium without paying?this is why Negroid nations do not develop, the vvya boma mentality and were do you expect the stadium management are going to find money for their expenses. It is now rubbish after rubbish as in we are rebuilding,we are learning from stupid pathetic footballing nations like Malawi,Namibia and Ethiopia,to now it is a national matter let them just use it for free my neck ,while FAZ wiil make money which they are going to award themselves as allowances excluding players since the government pays the senior team.Where does the rest of the money go?
Kalu is taking all the money in his pocket, fire this stupid guy before it becomes imbursement to whole work, wow FAZ and government are so cheap that they can’t afford to pay coach fees or ground fee

Again,again&again!!!FAZ at it AGAIN,OUCH
FAZ should learn to pay the bills. They are very quick at inflating ticket prices for the matches, and yet they disappear after collecting gate takings. We’ve been complaining of the poor state of the stadium, particularly the pitch. Little did we know that FAZ hasn’t been paying for the services. How can you expect stadium management to maintain the stadium without money? We have been crying for the stadium, there we are we are failing to even maintain them due to lack of payments by FAZ. Shame on you FAZ.
Meanwhile, Kalu is busy using FAZ money to furnish his lavish life in South Africa on the beach with his old lady Emmy. This Kalu is useless and needs to be out of FAZ sooner than later.
This Faz is broke… money wise as well as ideas. It’s like they’ve just realised that football management involves dealing with players, teams as well as the corporate world. Looks like their hands are full right now and they don’t know what to do.
Just wondering how many events can be held at Levy at K206k per event. Why not make it cheaper in order to get scale (more events and regularly). Ba Management best you mint money in a win win situation. For example, I can go and hold a Davido show there in partnership with them and they end up making more than the K206k and I make something to smile about which is better than them letting me first hold an event there and pa last i pay their asking price-kubabutuka pa last when i see my margin is thin. Levy Management consider projects to be done in partnership with Event Managers as that way you’ll have more leverage and regularly so.
Kalu must go!
