Honour Janza has been relieved off his duties as Chipolopolo caretaker coach.
Zesco United coach George Lwandamina has been appointed to take over from him.
A statement from Zesco United read as follows:
The Football Association of Zambia has appointed Zesco United head coach George Lwandamina as acting coach for the Senior National team.
In a letter to Zesco United dated 8th June, 2015 and FAZ General Secretary George Kasengele, Lwandamina has been appointed with immediate effect.
“The appointment is on temporal basis and will be subject to the position being filled in the next few months,” the letter read.
FAZ has further requested Zesco to release Lwandamina to join camp as soon as the National team returns from Ethiopia from 8th June to 22nd June for the Chan qualifiers against Guinea Bissau and Namibia.
And Zesco United General Secretary Justin Mumba says the club has no objection with the appointment of Lwandamina.
“It is the wish of every coach to coach the National Team and as a club we are happy that our coach that has been chosen to take up the mantle. We will give him all the necessary support and as requested, we shall release him to be with the National team and during his time there, Assistant coach Tenant Chembo will act as Head coach,” He said.

Praise the lord.

Finally Janza is gone,But will Chicken deliver?
yayaya now find give the task to win afcon & qualify to world cup if he fails replace him with foreigner couch.
It has been long overdue, and have always thought of giving lwandamina chance than janza who started behaving like a mad person.
I will drink the all crate of mosi to celebrate this development.
woooza chicken George and I know lwandamina will drop jacksion mwanza ASAP.
All good.
All the best coach George and as for Honour DONT BE DISCOURAGED take this as an opportunity to go and learn more one day an opportunity will avail itself then you can perform better THANKS COACH JANZA
Useless Jackson mwanza can now go. We want kola in the team and fwayo must come back. These are players George drilled at the world cup in canada.
Fwayo is already with the team in camp in Kitwe.
This is a good move. At least Lwandamina has football brains and has the experience needed at national team level. I welcome this move.
why fire now he should have been fired after weekends game, FAZ is so stupid
Loooooooooool
anza was handed his letter relieving him of national team soon after landing from Addis Ababa where Zambia beat Ethiopia 1-0.
Lwanamina takes over immediately and will work with Fighton Simukonda and Chintu Kampamba. Lwandamina, Simukonda and Chintu will be part of the new Chipolopolo technical team which will be headed by a new coach expected to be unveiled over the coming weeks.
“The rest of the Chipolopolo technical team remains uncanged until such a time when there is a review of the present staff. Zambia Olympic Team coach Fighton Simukonda will work with Lwandamina and Chintu Kampamba during the time the U23 team is off international duty,” FAZ said ading: “Updates on the announcement of the new head trainer will be given over the coming weeks. Lwandamina has since been introduced to the team.”
Chicken should quickly call KOLA,MBESUMA and drop that Patrick boy he s for the future SATE SATE AND EVANS KANGWA are enough of the younger strickers but we should mix em with experience
Not Mbesuma. He lacks the speed and he is too heavy now. Age is also catching with him. Getting tired too easily. I agree with you on Roger Kola.
As much as I have lost my love for Janza, FAZ has handled this with such unprofessional callousness that it really makes me sick of this executive. Here is a man who worked for this country all this time and you have no decency to forewarn him,but simply hand him a dismissal upon arrival from a national assignment. Why wasn’t there a process for selection? George Lwandamina, was given the reigns when HR first left and it was immediately evident that he was not upto the task. Why was there no process, no consultation with the coaches association, no interviews, no discussion with Janza. This is not how you run a professional organization, it’s not even how you run an amateur one. The timing of all this is also bad, surely a new coach within 1 week of a qualifier…lol…FAZ is a joke.
i totally agree with you,the decision made by lacks timing.ln as much we wanted Janza to be replaced, this surely should have been done at right time.Faz should learn to put the interest of the soccer fans and that of the players first.i don’t remember the last time Faz advertised for the position national team coach to be filled.Kalu and the team just do what please them.Ok, Janza is fired, when is Kalu leaving?
Soooo if Zambia fail to beat Guinea-Bissau, are we going to blame Janza or Lwandamina? Why is this happening at such a critical time?
KWAME DONT HAVE A CLUE –BUDDY Mr POSITIVE THINKING
the move to hand him the letter of resignation jst after arriving is in bad taste. faz shod have waited until the man settled down
sorry letter of dismissal.
If Janza is fired for real! it has come at the wrong right time, the qualifying game is too close FAZ should have waited until the game is played instead of killing the momentum. Chicken George can deliver but him too needs time to select players. Lets wait and see!!!
Better now than later. George knows these players and he knows Zambian football, both club and national team. It should not be the problem. I was going to worry if they brought in a complete stranger. Lwandamina, Simukonda plus Ba Chintu is not a bad combination at all. This is what I mentioned in the few blogs back that a combinations of Lwandamina and Simukonda will be a good one. I think FAZ reads what we post here on Zamfoot.
kalu should have been fired now, and janza should have been fired after guinea game, what stupidity , who is in charge
Loooooooooool
lolest
now, tomorrow or sunday is not the issue! the issue is bye bye clueless janza! even his name is not a football one! ati honor, what honor has he brought but, shame! atasee!!!
So replacing a flat tyre with a brick makes sense because we wanted the flat tyre gone period. Change for the sake of change is not a solution in any situation, but we’ve all seen this movie before. This is not Lwandamina first rodeo. Can someone tell us what he accomplished on his first temporary time in charge. Ello no process…c’mon guys, this is going to backfire. I hope it won’t, but the probability of success is minimal
To be honest bloggers I have lost faith in Zambian coachs. We needed an expatriate coach with a good reputation.
Bwana time is too short, but expatriate is on the way to make you happy (same here)!
Please no calling back dinosaurs who lamentably failed at Afcon 2013 and were going to cost us Afcon 2015 qualification-this was an ace up Janza’s sleeve for me whether we did well at Afcon 2015 or not as even Xris and Co started on a bad note under Great Kalu in 2006 while rebuilding
I thought if we wanted to go local why not mix the same Janza,Chicken and Simukonda unlike this, chicken will do nothing he is as useless as his predisessor.Kalu also why not go for that Kenya coach,Williamson,am sure he is cheap and can choose us over those long distance runners.
Clear indication that football house is full of Pot smokers. We all wanted the guy out but the timing is as ridiculous as Faz itself. Whatever the result this weekend this faz admin is one hell of a joke!
Imwe ba zamfoot what’s wrong with my comments? Mwayamba ma labishi ka!
FAZ should not use Janza as a scapegoat. Kalu need to step down himself. He has failed us. Janza should have been replaced with a foreign coach that will deliver for the country not all this nonsense from Kalu. Kalu thinks we are little kids here? So now he is listening to us, but still ignores the calls for a proven foreign coach to be hired? Still ignores our calls for him to step aside and let someone that will be based in Zambia take control of Faz? Make no mistake here, we want you Kalu and your entire corrupt FAZ to pack your bags and leave. For you Kalu, its just a matter of time as FBI, Swiss interpol are coming for you and then when Qatar is stripped off the hosting rights, those Osama bin laden friends of yours will come for their money. If our ACC was not corrupt, you would be rotting in jail by now, but just like you were trying to buy a ministerial post from HH, you must have paid your way through the ACC to turn their blind eye on all your corrupt dealings. Stepping down will be the best thing you could do for Zambian football right now. Do not destruct us here. Levy Mwanawasa stadium needs to you stop spending extravagantly in South Africa and pay up what your defunct leadership owes them. You firing Janza now just goes to show how desperate you are at clinging to power. Janza had no idea on what he was doing and we all saw it, but you couldn’t. You have failed the Zambian people and your arrogance and corruption stinks beyond belief.
Kalu will continue to use these tactics of employing local coaches on Temporary basis while he is chopping money in South Africa. He can only piss on the clueless local coaches because knowledgeable foreign coaches would take him to corrupt Fifa. Our local coaches can’t because they are Africans and Fifa won’t lookout for them.
Can somebody produce concrete evidence proving that Kalu’s stay in South Africa is at the expense of tax payers? Kalu is not untouchable by the law. Can we bring facts to the table?
This is ridiculous. Where on earth will this happen but AFRICA. How can the head of FAZ be living outside the country? Some times, l refuse to believe this. Is it indeed happening? God Save ZAMBIA.
I know it doesn’t sound right, but at least he isn’t doing so at the expense of Zambians’ tax. Or is he?
@Paddy, that’s no rocket science. He is getting paid on full time basis working for FAZ, while he is not living and monitoring everything that should be going on with the development of the game in Zambia. So the fact is some percentage of tax payers money goes to his living expenses in South Africa. Is it 100%? it could be. The point here is, he needs to be living in Zambia regardless of what sources of his living expenses are there in SA and in this case as a Zambian citizen and paying taxes in Zambia through my business ventures there in Zambia, I know a percentage of my taxes and yours too go to Kalu’s living expenses one way or another in SA and for that, YOU SHOULD BE ANGRY.
It is exactly the same offence as DVD coach- Mr. Bonneti did when he used to show up a day before a crucial match. He was mostly spending his time in Italy and using his DVDs to coach Chipolopolo. Most fans and other stake holders did opposed that kind of habit including Kalu himself. So why is he doing the same thing where he heads the FAZ office while he is residing in S.Africa?I though heading FAZ office while living in S.Africa is just as bad as coaching a national team by DVDs while you reside in Italy? Kalu was the first one to throw stones onto Bonneti for this kind of offence.
I really feel sorry for Janza. he has been made a scapegoat in the FAZ crisis.
@ TC Soccerman I totally agree that it is not good PR for Faz president to be based in a foreign nation. That however is not an illegal act. You’re right I would be angry if there’s irrefutable evidence that my tax is not being channelled to its intended purpose. Surely any misuse or evasion of tax is a criminal offence. The last time I checked, Kalu walked and talked like a freeman. I don’t believe that the whole govt and all stakeholders would be afraid to question a “mere” football administrator. Unless of course you tell me that the whole governance system in the country has been compromised.
There’re so many points that I agree with you on but I just feel that so many times we Zambians are somehow missing the mark when trying to address issues simply because we’ve got the wrong target. And this isn’t to say the guy is blameless.
Lelo Kalu no where to hide local fans,Fbi,Swiss police,Interpol,Arabs ,Levy stadium are all after you.
May be he is currently the “most wanted” football official on the continent!!!LOL
kalu why can’t u be president for South African football, since u live in SA. we don’t need u, u left our country so please leave our FAZ alone, you are just stealing Zambian tax money
phew!
senior team mufulira:unda 23,mufulira:unda 20 mufuylira:unda 17 mufulira. So its only mufulira town bakground which qualifies pipo to be coaches??? Nway its mufulira useless administration.we re not blind kalusha
Something is wrong with our football somewhere, I wont be surprised if we struggle
to qualify for AFCON 2017, One 70% of Zambians all have negative thinking yet we have a very good side to win AFCON 2017 all we need is just a good Coach of which i
believe the appointment of Lwandamina is just good looking at the local coaches we
have. secondly what we say on social media also affects the team because they also read, Why can’t we just be positive every time no matter the situation if we really
love the team! STOP blaming KALU every time any changes happen when are we going
to one day give him credit? I remember when KALU announced that Herve Renard as our new National coach 85% were just talking rubbish about KALU until the trophy
came to Zambia then you had sill tape on your mouth and had nothing to say.
papa, the truth is courches have no problem, check this, how is it possible for our teams to fail to perform well at any event? obviously not the courches but administration issues. we cant realy say we have no courch to get us trophies NO
Talking too much zambianizee.
Talking too much zambianizee.I dnt no what you want?Govt was clear they told faz to look for a local or foreign.they come up with chiken george but want a coach of you own.let’s suport FAZ.
Honestly its not good to be firing Coaches in the middle of a week with a game at the weekend.
The choice of Lwadamina as a coach kaya?
What about CHINTU’s letter?… Now we start firing under-performing players like Jackson & Donashano.
By the way, Goodluck to the Super Falcons. Sitting down to watch them vs Sweden
THE FALCONS DID WELL THAN THE IVORIANS..I WAS WATCHING TOO BUDDY. THREE GOALS ALL..I BELIEVE THE FALCONS CAN TAKE AFRICA INTO PLACES IN THE WC..
” Kalu is a joker guys and the only solution to our football now is to dissolve the football association of zambia FAZ and appoint new blood with new ideas”
All the best ba coach plus live long
There is no point to even try make heads or tails and sense of these decisions from Faz, god only knows what they are thinking.
But i will say that Janza over played his role as head coach. He complained about contracts when that was not really an issue and has created unwelcome issues such as these throughout. Knowing the nature of FAZ and being a local coach he should have read his appointment as coach differently than he did. This is not an ideal world or an ideal job! You were not HR, you will be used and George and Simukonda will also. That is some feedback for you Janza. I don’t know what Janza will do now, he will go back to his job as technical director? I think he should go and coach a team, leave Faz now what more do you want stay to do. What does a Faz technical director even do? Anybody know?
This has been a sad time for Zambian football. We have really good veteran players who have invaluable international experience who are getting too old, not yet for all of them. We have some bluecollar hardworking players who have experience and are in their prime and we have a host of young star players who are not ready for the big time. We have prospects but i can assure that none of these elements on their own can do the job for us internationally. What Janza failed to do and what a good foreign coach will be doing is coming here to weed out the players who can make Zambia tick. Balancing the old with the new, picking some of these players of their asses where they have been left and dusting them off. Then maybe we can have modecom of form which we can build upon.
At this moment i think we have nothing but the willingness and embers of dreams among the players themselves that keep Zambia going. It has been sad to watch us detriorate these last periods and even Janza going does not stop that, we might go even lower. It’s important to understand where we are and what is happening.
Dude you must be in USA or something (you’re up this time?) But yeah our football is now comedy stuff. There’s still hope though if only we can put our house in order. The timing of the change of coach, the personnel involved in the change itself – you wonder whether to laugh or to cry.
I HAD THAT THOUGHT. JANZA WAS PROBABLY RESPONDING TO MEDIA COMMENTS.
Please put a billboard for someone which should read “No Trespassing,” He must not be allowed to be near the team.
This is the beginning of good things and after zambian football is not all that as most of us think . We are heading the right direction . Lets break away from the syndrome of always being negative . You people your expections are very high . Is football in Lesotho being administered well ? What about Malawi ? Why are they failing to produce results like what Zambia is doing . Kalu is the only man who can take Zambia forward and there is no one ready to challenge him .
iGNORANCE bulwele. Elo takwaba ukupola. SO Good luck to some of you here
Reading from a number of comments here,I can tell most people have issues with themselves and not soccer. How does one explain a person condemning a move he was a moment ago advocating for?Janza with all due respect was not the right person to take us anywhere in football and kalu said this. The same know it all soccer analysts condemned him for saying local coaches were not ready for this huge task!
This move was long over due!
Amos Mumba, my concern is the timing of the decision. This decision should have happened a loooong time ago. After COSAFA there should have been a crossroads where Zambia was either going to continue with Janza or ask him to step down. This is a week before a crucial qualifier and that’s when you choose to remove a coach who has already selected the players and just came back from a friendly match preparing the team. How that makes sense to anyone is beyond me!!! Its bad management. How can you hold Lwandamina accountable? You can’t. He has every excuse in the world if he fails to deliver this weekend. You are exhibiting the same short sightedness that is plaguing this FAZ management. Change for the sake of change is not a good thing. There has to be timing and big picture oversight that is important.
@Positive Thinking.I think the risk appetite for janza’s removal has been weighed against the greater risk of having janza in charge for the first game of the qualifier. Its more of a damage control that may work or not than anything else. But at least this would have given Lwandamina a starting point.Even the game in Ethiopia still exposed our lack of solidity as a team which could be irrevocably damaged against a more experienced Guinean side.We just had to take this risk. Our display have been pathetic despite some wins.HR coached 80% of these local players when they won the COSAFA and they performed but Janza has lamentably failed to even have a solid line up out of the same players.Perhaps its true, this should have come earlier but something had to be done before disaster struck.Even if we lose the first game, the issue here is that it will have afforded Lwandamina the chance to correct the situation before the next game and still give us the chance to qualify.
Remember every blogger on this forum at one time was advocating for FAZ to give Janza a contract before going to the last AFCON but knowing how shrewd Kalu is,he took his time because he was not convinced and yet had to go along with popular demand of keeping Janza.
At times we would blame somebody for not perfoming well, the question is, have we actually been able to identify where the problem is realy? for me i dont think Janza was the problem in this matter, even Herve had the same challenges, when you critically look at the whole thing, you will discover that thing are beyond the pitch. if FAZ can fail to make proper travell arrangements for the team, it means there is alot more stuff that they arent doing correctly. you may blame janza today and always wanting him to mirraculously hndle things the way you want but truth be told, has any one aked him what he is going through under FAZ? and yet we want to push him to do wonders.that cant work, lets first be able to make FAZ transparent then the rest will be sotted out easly. bring which ever courch, but as long as we have inefficience pa faz then zed football will all be in dreams. we cant have a situation where by all the courches fail lamentably in a single year. does it mean we dont have proper courch in zambia? thats not possible and God forbid
Everything is Mufulira-Mufulira Kwwf!
We needed a change for sure, but the move taken by Faz lacks timing.in as much as Lwandamina knows the guys, its another thing to be the guys and come with the team.i just hope the new coaches will deliver positive results despite being given the huge task few days before.my personal advise to faz is that let them learn to put the interest of the soccer loving Zambian first.kalu and the team should learn to consult and advertise for the position of the national team coach.i don’t remember the last time faz floated the position to the public.good luck to the new coaches and the lads

zamfoot are u mourning Janza???? No update since he was fired
