FAZ happy with Janza, says Kalusha

Football Association of Zambia President Kalusha Bwalya says he and his Executive are pleased with the performance of ‪Chipolopolo‬ Senior Coach, Honor Janza. Kalusha has told Fazfootball.com that if Janza had not performed to the expectations of the FAZ Executive Committee, he (Janza) would not be in charge of the team.

“Everything has been going on well, and we shall not allow any distraction especially at this moment. It’s tough enough to play just one game at the Africa Cup. I want to reiterate that Coach Janza has the full backing of FAZ , players and all at the Secretariat. He wouldn’t be in charge of the team if we did not believe in his quality and ability. I have always said he is doing a good job and we hope he can be around for a long time. He deserves a chance” said the celebrated African Football icon.

And Honour Janza, in a separate interview with Fazfootball.com says his preoccupation at the moment is the ‪AFCON  assignment. “We have three crucial games ahead of us and as such I would rather direct all my energies and attention to these games” he said.

Meanwhile Janza says he is happy with the preparations that the team has undertaken during the camping for 2015 Afcon finals.

“People should appreciate that Zambia has its own road-map of getting ready for the finals. We cannot get into panic mode just because other countries have arrived ahead of us, we have our own plans which always take care of any eventualities.

So far all has been very close to our initial plans “he added. Janza is also happy that once again the Government has facilitated the camping for the team in South Africa. He further thanked the Government and the Association for the support and travelling arrangements. Janza said this upon arrival at Harmony Hotel in Ethiopia where the team spent a night en route to Equatorial Guinea.

The Coach has assured the nation that his team and technical bench will remain focused on the assignment ahead.

  1. That sounds like some great Zambians now talking … it shall be well our boys will be in Guinea today and half at least a full day to recover from the jetlag … but whatever the situation … Zambia must rise and conquer … Shalom

  2. First cut is the deepest . Well we do understand. Even Jan Skazwe can reverse decision ( REFREE ) after a goal has not been properly scored as long as the game has not restarted. You too can error just like our Hon Minister Kambwilli has errored . Ok let’s burry all these and focus on how we can win this yea’s Africa Cup.
Winning AFCON is not about leaving the all issues to Janza alone. It takes the Minstry, FAZ EXCO, FAZ Sectariate, players, supportes and the Media all to be fully involved

  3. Sometimes life only calls for an opportunity. This is a great chance for Janza to market himself with or without a contract. No one in this world would have given him this opportunity with lack of coaching experience. He is already the Technical Director as a full time employee.Of course he deserves a contract, however, this will not harm his cause if he regarded the AFCON stint as a probation period and use it to bring tangible results.Embarrassing your employer in public is a wrong way of advocating for a confirmation.Kalu does not have the right to give the contract without consensus from other stakeholders that includes government.Janza should be the first one to know this.

  4. “…I want to reiterate that Coach Janza has the full backing of FAZ , players and all at the Secretaria…” Yes KALU while us supporters we are not giving you and FAZ a full backing. A coach cant feel secured for 6 months on job without confirmation or signing a contract. How would one feel after being ‘hired’ then your new employer keeps saying we are happy with you keep on working you will one day sign the contract keep working… 6 months down the road – keep working me and the board of the directors are happy with you keep working.

  5. You BROOD OF VIPERS!!!!! Give the man a contract for heaven’s sake. Kalusha Bwalya has taken our football to the DOGS. He has to leave. We need fresh minds to manage our football affairs. It’s such a SHAME!

    • I really dont get you… a jersey to have a star? Where big at the back, fron on the short, small, huge etc? and why a star?

      • Do you really not know why a national team has a star??? don’t shock us with that question my man. Take it back and say you were joking otherwise from here and now on we will look at your comments as jokes. C’mon now a football fan/analyst who has no idea why a national team jersey has a star!!!

        • Stop acting holier than thou, dont come out like you know everything football do you?, if I didnt know that those stars signifies the times a team or country has won the cup is it a crime? Yes take my comments as jokes before I tell you something Zamfoot wouldnt expect from me. Sis.

      • judge. if u look at nigeria shirts they have three stars on the front side. they symbolise the number of times nigeria has won the africa cup

  6. @ judge, what I ment was, if any team or country win eg Caf champions,Afcon, World cup etc, gets a STAR . Its located below or above the log of a team eg ,Ghana has 4 stars. German also 4 stars. TP Mazambe 5stars. Bafana Bafana 1 star.

  7. We might never replicate the form we showed at the AFCON in 2012 and in the final itself. Zambia played one of the best games they have ever played in 50 years. The players were fast, committed and aggressive. We deserved to win that AFCON tournament!!!

  8. Zambia arrive for 2015 AFCON by LT

    Jan 16, 2015 3:53 pm
Zambia have landed in Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 Africa Cup.

The team arrived just after lunch on Friday in Malabo on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Johannesburg via Addis Ababa after departing from South Africa on Thursday.

Zambia were met at Malabo Airport by FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya.

The team was later expected to fly to the mainland town of Mongomo and from there take a 45 minute drive to their Group B base at Ebebiyin.

Zambia face DR Congo on Sunday in their opening Group B match.

Tunisia and Cape Verde are the other teams in Group B.

  9. Players in Camp who have been in AFCON before

    1 Mweene
    2.Titima
    3 Sunzu
    4 Mbola
    5. Nkausu
    6. Sinkala
    7. Chisamba
    8. Kalaba
    9. Mukuka
    10 Mayuka
    11 Evan Kangwa

So why are we concerned about experience while we have half of the team with AFCON experience? We dont want excuses

    • Lol. My thoughts exactly. Give the man a contract if you are so happy. FAZ is a joke. Ben Bamfuchile went to the grave with FAZ owing the man money. Fred Mwila had to complain while on crutches for something to happen. Patrick Phiri still talks about not being paid. We never do this to abasungu we hire.

Mopani Mines is always quick to offer money for a foreign coach, but where is the support for our very own. Its like we expect Zambians to do the job for free. Kalusha when he was coach refused to do it for free and asked for a European style contract, but look how he is treating his countrymen. Shame… even the coaches association of Zambia just sits and watches.

  10. It seems this problem has been there like forever before even Kalu became FAZ president, but people are just quick to point fingers at him, it’s better real cause of it and deal with it once and for all, otherwise it ‘ll just keep repeating itself.

    • Duncadinho, I see your point. The main issue though is that Kalusha was a player and was also once the national team coach. Therefore, he of all people should understand the importance of a coach having a contract.

I don’t think this is a Kalusha problem, because like you said it has been the same for a long time. However, Kalusha is the one in the best place to fix this problem. So too is Chishimba Kambwili who’s first reaction is always to go on the offensive.

  11. Guys the national team has arrived in equatorial Guinea. In my opinion the team has arrived on time . They have had enough time to rest and the whole day to train and rest tomorrow. We don’t want excuses.

  12. My question is “Why did Janza accept to coach without signing a contract??”Just shows that he is Kalusha Bwalya’s cholaboy and it is for this reason he was afraid to ask him. Janza in bemba they say aka nsoni kafwilile mwibula, just tell Kalusha point blank that if he won’t give you a contract before 18:00 hours today then you will go home. Who on this blog can accept to start in a new job without a contract, the answer is no one or zero. Musoke and tell him to give you the contract unless you and your family will be eating Kalu. Any Zambian soccer fan against this should give you a contract and start paying your salary. Your family will never eat patriotism. Just look at what happened to the Gabon Air Disaster families. They suffered like hell and no one not even us soccer fans did anything to help any of the families with even 1 ngwee

This is foolish behavior by FAZ and just shows how much respect they have for Zambian coaches. Zambian coaches are partly to blame as well because they are afraid to ask (Kula fwilefye mu kati. Ifya kufwila mukati fya mu feduro), why pretend you are happy when you are not. Janza I advise you to behave like FIFA do. It is either there is a contract on the table today by 18:00 or you leave. Let Kambwili come and coach the team. The stupid minister who opens his beak on any topic

The next thing we will hear is that players have not been paid or that they don’t know how much they will get.

It is for this reason that we will be kicked out. The coach and players are not happy with all that has happened. My advice to the players is that use the AFCON to sell yourselves period, because if FAZ and Govt wanted to win they could have made proper travel arrangements as well as organized at least two more friendly games. It is idiocy to expect the team to win when the preparations have been at toilet level. I for one will not blame the players or the coach if we lose. I am aware that Janza is not a good coach but given the way things have gone by makes matters just worse for and I now feel pity though I have been hard and called him names
Arriving 48 hours before AFCON starts plus camping in the wrong climate, yaba ni pa Zed. If other African countries as poor as us can manage why can’t we? What is it that is wrong with us?

  13. @Zamfoot, where is Boniface Mwamelo kanshi. It is ages since I last read anything about the man. Is he still in FAZ?
