FAZ to appeal to CAF against Burundi over age cheating

Football Association of Zambia, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has confirmed that they have lodged in complaint to CAF against Burundi over age cheating.

“I would like to confirm that the Football Association of Zambia lodged a complaint with CAF against Burundi over age cheating,”

Later on FAZ released a statement

Below is statement..

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has formally written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the Burundi Football Federations decision to use overaged players in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Burundi and Zambia played on 22nd July 2018 in Ngozi, Burundi.

FAZ has asked CAF to thoroughly investigate the background of the Burundi players.

“All the players playing U-20 must have previously played U-17 and underwent MRI tests. If the players have no previous U-17 records, that should indicate age manipulation. There is need for CAF to undertake validation checks using the CAF database as we have no direct proof to ascertain the correct ages of the Burundi players since the same information is only provided by the Burundi Football Federation.”

“For a player to be in U-20, when did they get registration to play in their local league. CAF can call for such records for secondary validation. If there is no record, then that should immediately be a signal of age manipulation”

The Association is further informed that Zambian players were subjected to physical intimidation and metal detectors used by soldiers during training and before playing the game.

  1. I think that is the way to deal with this issue. I saw the faces of those Burundi players, they seem to be very old players. i hope caf will look at this
    case seriously.

  2. The question is why cry foul now when they used the same players in the first game?

FAZ, COACHES + the TECHNICAL STAFF failed the young chipolopolo. They were happy to see the boys struggle to a 1-0 win.

    Why now?

Just forget! CAF is busy with other important matters.

Negligently complaining after the fact!Seeking a back door entrance at the AFCON.

    JUST FORGET

    • you are on point! Why wait until you lose, you won at nkoloma and you didnt lodge in a complaint, and obviously had we wont in burundi you wouldnt even have complained again.so please learn from this timely lesson…just forget about the loss….you are poor planners.who do you just overhaul a team completely at once.you completely changed the who under 20 team of last year.I dont understand why that was done so because not all of those under 20 players of last are now over 20.some are now 19 and of course some are 20 now.
