Fashion Sakala on target as Oostende bow out of domestic cup

Fashion Sakala came off the bench to score a goal for his Belgian club KV Oostende but it was not enough to give them a win as they conceded twice in the last six minutes to lose on penalties in the semi-final second leg of the domestic cup competition.

Sakala was named on the bench for the match but got his chance when De Sutter suffered a back injury and made way for him in the 30th minute.

With Oostende already leading by a goal, the former Zanaco attacker wasted no time to record his name on the score-sheet a minute later. He was picked a Vanlerbegher long ball which he controlled well in the box which he controlled with his left leg, took a touch before expertly firing past the goalkeeper across the goal with his right from an acute angle.

Oostende were headed for victory but they crumbled in the final minutes conceding first in the 84th minute before Gent completed the come back in the 90th minute to take the game to penalties as the two teams were tied 4 – 4 on aggregate.

The confident 21 year old striker was the first to step up for his team and he converted his spot kick. Unfortunately, his team missed three penalties to go out via a 4 – 3 penalty shout out scoreline.

  1. Despite his team losing this is the news we like to hear, our strikers scoring. I just hope this sparks something in the coach to use him in the first team more regularly and also sparks something in Fashion to score more regularly.
