Zambian striker Evans Kangwa opened his goal account for the season on Tuesday evening to rescue a vital point for Arsenal Tula who played out to a hard-fought 1-1 draw with FK Khimki.
Evans started in attack alongside Evgeni Lutsenko while Klings Kangwa started in a midfield trio alongside Daniil Lesovoy and Goran Čaušić.
Tula started strong with Klings controlling and bossing the midfield. Tula had their first chance in the 17th minute but Taras Burlak sent his header above the bar.
Khimki broke the deadlock after 30 minutes as Kamran Aliev worked his way into the box before sending the ball to the far post leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. Daniil Lesovoy came close in the 40th minute but his shot hit the post.
Nine minutes into the second half, Evans Kangwa could have leveled matters but he made a poor decision of going for a lob with a teammate free on the far left but the FK Khimki goalkeeper could not be beaten.
Tula leveled matters in the 76th minute as Evans Kangwa rose high to meet Peneteleev’s pin-point cross, 1-1 the match ended.
