Muhsin Ertugral says he omitted Collins Mbesuma in his team’s game against Maritzburg United with an eye on next Friday’s Nedbank Cup quarter-final with SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
“He needs to relax a bit. Mbesuma had played two international games and immediately the next game for us and the Chiefs game, so he was a bit tired,” Ertugral says.
“We have a very important game for us and we want to achieve the semi-finals… we are not running around the bush.
“If we achieve it, it will be a different story. So it was an important time for him (to rest). We have (Mpho) Matsi with a yellow card and also (Limbikani) Mzava (who also both missed the Maritzburg game),” says Ertugral, who confirmed Lehlohonolo Nonyane will be back for the showdown with SuperSport.
Aces dispatched Maritzburg courtesy of second-half goals from Thabo Nodada, his first in the PSL, and Judas Moseamedi.

It’s not a bad decision by the coach. Resting a prominent player is also a good thing at times.
