Śląsk Wrocław hosted second-placed Górnik Zabrze in an evening encounter of the Polish PKO BP Ekstraklasa on Saturday.
Making his 7th appearance out of 9 games, Lubambo Musonda started on the right-wing. He was energetic, with commentators praising his high work rate both defensively and offensively.
In the 25th min, Musonda was involved in arguably the best chance of the 1st half. He ran with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area, passed the ball to Pich, who couldn’t convert from a tight angle.
In the 35th min, another pass from Musonda found Pich. This time the resulting shot from Pich was blocked by the opposition.
0:0 the game went to half time.
The second half started with Górnik taking the game to Sląsk. Górnik was unlucky to not take the lead in the 58th min when Krawczyk’s effort from inside the penalty area hit the crossbar!
Musonda capped off a fine display by being rested in the 68th min.
The game carried on with both teams trying to break the deadlock. In the end, they shared the spoils in a 0:0 scoreline.
Górnik will be the happier of the two as they maintain their second-place position on 17 points. Whereas, Śląsk drop to 5th on 14 points.
The fan’s perspective:
Mnichu remarked: Musonda is doing a great job, no wonder he is being called to the National team. When Musonda is not playing in the Sląsk team, it is visible he is missing.
Krzysztof remarked: Musonda was very active today.
The match was Musonda’s last for Wroclaw before returning home for national duty as he is among those summoned by coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojecvic for the back to back AFCON qualifier against Botswana.
