Edward Chilufya signs contract extension at FC Midtjylland

Chipolopolo winger Edward Chilufya has signed a contract extension with FC Midtjylland that will see him stay at the club until December 2028.

Since joining the club in 2022 he has played 91 games and scored 12 goals, winning both the league (3F Superliga ) and the Cup ( Oddset Pokalen).

The Zambian international is now approaching 100 appearances in the FC Midtjylland jersey. Since joining in the winter of 2022, He is now only nine games away from reaching the milestone.

Chilufya’s new contract with the Danish outfit runs until December 31, 2028.

“Chili has some qualities that are hard to find. He has speed, breakthrough power, and the ability to decide games on his own,” Sporting director Kristian Bach Bak told the club’s official website.

“He has had periods of adversity, but we have always believed in his potential, and we are convinced that we still have the best to come. He is humble, hardworking, and fits well into our environment.”

The new contract is both a recognition of the work Chilufya has put in and a belief that he can take even more steps in the coming time.

The 25-year-old FCM player is delighted with the new deal.

“It feels good. I’ve been here for a while now, and I really like it. The club’s playing style suits me well, and I believe I can do much better in the years to come,” Chilufya said.

Chilufya played 1,110 minutes, scored six goals, and made six assists for FCM in 2024/25 – equivalent to a goal involvement every 92 minutes.

“Sometimes confidence is high, other times it’s low. It can be difficult to get into the game in the second half and make a difference, but for me, it’s about continuing and fighting for the team. The most important thing is to do my part when needed, and then I believe success will come,” he sais.

“I believe in myself. There’s great competition on the team, and you have to fight for your spot every single day. Of course, it’s hard, but also educational. The key for me is hard work, pressing, and fighting for my spot.”

“I’ll keep winning titles here in Midtjylland, and at some point in my career, I dream of moving to a top 5 league,” Edward Chilufya concluded.
