Edward Chilufya and FC Midtjylland through to next round in Europa League 

Chipolopolo winger Edward Chilufya and his Danish side FC Midtjylland are through to the third qualifying round in the UEFA Europa League. 

This follows FC Midtjylland’s hard fought 2-1 win over Scottish outfit Hibernian FC. 

An intense clash at Easter Road in Edinburgh ended with a 2-1 victory for FC Midtjylland and Edward Chilufya. 

The Zambian international came off the bench to play the last 15 minutes in extra time after missing the first leg due to injury as FC Midtjylland secured a 3-2 aggregate win over their Scottish counterparts. 

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg against Hibernian FC in Herning, it was FC Midtjylland’s turn to visit Easter Road in Edinburgh and play the return leg in the 2nd qualifying round for the Europa League.

The match was intense, but neither team could decide it in the first 90 minutes, so they had to go into extra time- VAR had to intervene twice to deny either side a goal. 

Hibernian’s Bowie was denied in the 16th minute while FC Midtjylland’s VAR heartbreak came in the 54th minute Franculino’s ruled out, both due to an offside. 

Dario Osorio put the visitors in the lead three minutes into extra time with a beautiful long-range shot. 

Hibernian levelled matters in additional time of the first half of extra time, Congolese player, Rocky Bushiri with the goal after a lapse a defense at the back by the FC Midtjylland’s defense. 

With the match headed for penalties, Junior Brumado produced a moment of magic with a beautiful scissor kick goal after being set up by Kevin Mbabu sealing the win and sending the FC Midtjylland fans into a frenzy. 

FC Midtjylland will now face Fredrikstad FK from Norway in the third qualifying round.
