Eagles dump Zesco out of Absa Cup to set up semi final clash

Green Eagles beat Zesco United 4-3 on post match penalties to advance to the semi finals of the Absa Cup after a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Substitute Linekar Mwiikisa came off the bench to score a late equaliser for Eagles to send the game to the penalties.

Winger Amity Shamende put Eagles 1-0 up in the 40th minute before his goal was cancelled out by an Enock Sakala 53rd equaliser.

Defender Clement Mwape put Zesco United 2-1 up with a goal mouth scramble in the 71st minute.

With the gam going in Zesco United’s way, veteran striker Mwiikisa came off the bench to score a stunning goal.

Hosea Silwimba missed from the spot for Eagles while Mwape and Thabani Kamusoko also failed to convert for Zesco.

Eagles will now face the winner between Nkwazi and Red Arrows in the semi-finals.

On Sunday, Napsa Stars face Green Buffaloes while Red Arrows and Nkwazi will square it off in the Military derby.
