Danny Silavwe targets winning a trophy with Napsa Stars

Napsa Stars midfielder Danny Mathews Silavwe says he is targeting winning a trophy with the Pensioners.

Silavwe joined Napsa Stars from Nkana in 2019 and he is yet to win any trophy with the Pensioners. The former Real Nakonde man says he wants to work extra hard to help Napsa Stars win the league or the ABSA Cup.

Last season Napsa Stars came close to winning the league only for Nkana to peep them to the title. However, the Pensioners qualified for their maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign. Silavwe believes the team is ready for their first test of continental football.

“As a player in Zambia if you don’t win any medal then you have not done anything. Since I came here I have never won anything hence I need to work hard to win a trophy with Napsa Stars,” he said.

“Yes, we are ready for Continental football, We qualified yes but we now need to prepare adequately,” he added.

The exciting midfield ace missed Napsa Stars seasonal opener against Zesco United due to an injury and he is racing against time to be ready for Wednesday’s derby match against Lusaka Dynamos.

Silavwe believes the team that will work the hardest on the pitch will carry the day.

“The game tomorrow, both teams want to win but what will matter most is who will work the hardest on the day will carry the day, Both teams did not do well in their last games, we were at home against Zesco and only managed a draw, this one we only need a win and nothing else,” he said.

” Am not really at 100% for now but we will see after today’s training what will happen, I can’t promise anything,” he added.

Napsa Stars will be away to Lusaka Dynamos at Sunset Stadium at 15:00. The match will be played behind closed doors as the Football Association of Zambia is still awaiting clearance from the Ministry of Health.
