Newly appointed Power Dynamos coach Dan Kabwe will lead the Zambia national team to the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament in Namibia after Zesco United opted to withdraw George Lwandamina from the national team.
The Chipolopolo currently have Lwandamina as head coach and he is being assisted by Nkana’s Aggrey Chiyangi and Nkwazi’s Elijah Chikwanda but all the three coaches have been asked to withdraw from the national team by their clubs.
This has left only inexperienced Chintu Kampamba on the Chipolopolo technical bench with goalkeeping coach Mike Poto.
Zesco United next week play in the CAF champions league.
The Chipolopolo were being drilled by Aggrey Chiyangi this week before the players went back to their respective clubs to play in this weekend’s league games.
The Chipolopolo are scheduled to play in the Cosafa tournament, joining the competition at the quarter final stage.
Kabwe who will be in the dug-out in Namibia is the current ZAFCA interim president.
The Football Association of Zambia has failed to employ a permanent coach since the departure of Herve Renard and Patrice Beaumelle owing to financial constraints.

Dan Kabwe?r we being seriou?
This Kamanga administration katwishi mwandi… Zambia has become horribly boring.
Is it not too early for Daniel Kabwe to straight away take the national team mantle? Couldn’t Patrick Phiri or someone who has coached the National Team have sufficed? kwati fyalapala desperation ifi.
Otherwise he is a personal friend from the Mufulira, Kafue and Kitwe days and I wish him well.
who is Dan Kabwe? nosense! we need PATRICK PHIRI
Ba kamanga welcome 2 the real world, let yo friend simata simata hear this
Thought pat Phiri to have been better option, maybe forest Rangers refused hence this move
CNP
Awe nomba bwaila pafita
We are completely finished
Who is Dan Kabwe? Is he the same person as Dennis Kabwe? I mean the former Kabwe Warriors and Township Rollers ( Botswana) midfielder. Some one help.
IT shows that our republican president does not love football i said it sata was different in it that he always provided for the needs of chipolopolo even though himself was not a football fanatic since the copper bullets are the responsibility of the government of the day and edgar is our president now that is why he is the patron of faz but money for pf campaigns is there money to pay an expatriate coach is not there and the chiefs had their salaries increased just yestarday and we have more than 200 chiefs in zambia the lowest will be getting k10,000 and a paramount chief k15,000 i rest , yet kalusha mentioned this a long time ago for three years now we have not had a coach all have been interim neglected african champions that brought honor in 2012 i miss my beloved president sata may his soul rest in peace .
Niyokosa candle….faz shud also consider simataa as his assistant since its amature hour. National team has become a joke. Patrick phiri coach wedson nyirenda, peter kaumba or charles musonda as assistants since poor old faz can’t afford an expatriate.
And is this chi Vincent mwale he busy campaigning for kamanga help your friend with money and get an expetriate coach …naba Charles musonda bafume mukubelama kaili yo enemy kalu is gone and bring your to the fold since he is not good enough for Belgium may pazed we can use him
It’s most bloggers commenting on this topic are new to Zambian football.because Mr Danny kabwe in an extremely experienced coach.he was coaching Zanaco early 2000 n he lead them to two league titles before heading to Botswana, he coached the likes on numba mumamba, cosmas Banda,Kingsley musabula so for temporary basis he fits the bill after all there is no money
Was also power coach at some point
Bloggers don’t just b quick to comment especially if u only started watching football after AFCON 2012
Bloggers don’t just b quick to comment especially if u only started watching football after AFCON 2012.novices
@Sade. Can you answer me pls.
@sly he is the same gentleman ur very right
u are dull can you compare him with PATRICK PHIRI or you are trying to defend him? nosense!
so you think wining two tittles with zanaco & coaching useless teams in botswana is a qualification to coach our national team? we need an expatriate coach & PATRICK PHIRI shud be assistant.
Abram torn down, u present ur facts not simply hallucinating like a girl in kindergarten with emotion.and yet u want to come out like an intelligent one, show maturity
Naiwewine Sade you think you know so much by insulting bloggers intelligence that they started watching soccer after 2012 the fact that people are emotional does not mean they are childish they are just answering the fools at Faz according to their folly
Patrick phiri cannot be compered with this novice coaching teams in Botswana does not make this clown to coach the national team at least phiri has done that before and qualified the team to afcon
So this just shows how tough things are at faz
Kamanga is pathetic he was quick to say they made profits from gate takings when the ground was not full we know the money came from the state house which was deemed profit so bwana Kamanga go to that pathetic Vincent mwale and ask for money to hire expetriate coach
Or be like the zim fa president who is a business man and is supporting soccer just like you are a business man do the same
Sacrifice your profit in the business to fund the hiring of new coach
iyeee mutule
It is a good move, i have respect for lwandamina he has the most experience of any coach but we are currently going nowhere fast. Better to shake things up, there is nothing worse than a coach thinking he can’t be replaced.
Give the reigns to someone else for now, see what kind of instincts they have. Cosafa is for developing players, let us see what Kabwe can do.
Let FAZ consider Irfan Kawri, Kalusha somehow cared for the National Team.
@Leon I apologize if u feel insulted or belittled n that’s goes to every1,but the point am trying to put across is that Mr kabwe is very seasoned coach otherwise even power wouldn’t have appointmented,it wud b incorrect to portray him as someone who knows nothing like other bloggers are putting it thats what I don’t agree with
FAZ must be serious Dan Kabwe? instead of PATRICK PHIRI or FORDSON KAMBOLE
May be the president is using money for campaign maybe lets expected an expariate coach after 11 augast, they say local is laka but the problem we have is that there’s no competition for coaches in zambian football as far as am concernd maybe if we can use the little money tht we hav to put up a programme of trainning coaches every year lyk s.a does am sure we can be able to produce good coaches in zambia, local coaches can be better because they knw our calture and good communication with players(local language)only if they can reach an experience lyk that of an exp coach.
even ELIJAH TANA & PETER KAUMBA thier are better than Dan Kabwe, pathetic FAZ
even his dressing speaks a high volume of failling to read the game properly. wht a shame to zambia!!
Then better chris kstongo becomes the coach not this kabwe.
Useless
May lets try to wait and see.
let dan kabwe try. let him use in form local prayers
What is wrong with Kabwe. Like Sade has already alluded to, a lot of you argue unfairly. You tend to think that unless you know a coach and believe he is good he cannot be good for the Chipolopolo. Some of you think Chris must take the reigns ahead of those you dont know just because you dont know them ignoring an elementary fact that Chris is not a coach. Leon suggests that DeKabwe is not favourable because he coached in Botswana and as if that is not.enough the he says the team’s are useless. This is a none starer considering the fact that most of your top coaches have coached in Botswana before.
Dan Kabwe shud go we dont need him, he cant coach the national team, dont even tell us that let him try, we dont need experiment at our national team, we need a coach who can build our national team, world cup qualifiers thier are around the corner, we are tired of these pathetic results! FAZ wht are u telling us about this Dan Kabwe? is there any different with Chicken? or maybe you want to see our mood? we need a coach who can bring different football not just coaching the small clubs in minows Botswana.
Dan Kabwe shud go!! before its to late, we wil protest this week, we need PATRICK PHIRI & PETER KAUMBA to lead the COSAFA TEAM, who is Kabwe to coach the national team? so Mr Kamanga is this our drawing board you hv been talking? fake drawing board starting with failures.
Dan Kabwe has uefa B certificate, stints at arsenal and charlton. Won the league with zanaco. Let’s try him.
I have a big question .. Who picked and drilled the players for this cosafa tournament. Chicken’s withdrawal let it be permanant.. Am sure some of the exprienced coaches the likes of patrick phiri they might have refused coz you cant work with a poorly selected team. That dan kabwe is a joke.
It’s clear that some of u on this blog only have not been following zed soccer for a long time ,but are quick to post comments on a topic that u haven’t done any research on.Dan kabwe is one of the qualified coaches in Zambia with a lot of experience and can do a good job at national level, so give him a chance too some of these coaches u talking about they have been there and have failed too so why not try someone else like Mr kabwe.
Cossafa wil charge him, leave hm plese
how and why do you call for patrick phiri? he failed to assemble a team from the likes of andrew sinkala moses sichone etc
foldson is old lad, Patrick can’t coach be reminded zambia missed out on afcon in 2004
Mwebantu besu i understand your frustration but we need a change not same people all the time. The coaches you want are all CHOKERS who have been given 4 or 5 times chance. Kabwe is there temporary while we are searching for a foreign coach and to me i think its a good move by FAZ.
This is the new FAZ and there job starts now, lets not put the blame on them but work together and support.
There are so many people who leads these comments so lets talk something that will help this country get back to were we belong and its by commenting sense
so that if FAZ officials go through our comments atleast pick some sensible points that can help then build this country because there are also human, so lets expect mistakes also. But if we see a mistake and start commenting rubbish then we just destroying Zambian Football.
DON’T FORGET TO BE AWESOME!!!
Zamfoot pliz give us a full profile for Dan Kabwe so that we comment properly. I hear he has UEFA B licence, he won the league twice with Zanaco and had a stint with Arsenal. I saw one photo with Arsene Wenger…what else?
I also understand he has a uefa B hence I have no problem with the appointment. The era for the Patrick Phiris is gone, time to try new and tested modern ideas other than picking on the basis that aliteyelepo bola !
The Zambia National Team coaching job is not for the same people. Patrick Phiri was and has being given so many opportunities to coach the national team. He did his best but we were beaten by cameroun 4 – 1 and many other teams. The point is we should learn to give other people an opportunity. Dan Kabwe is an experienced coach but we can know his abilities when given an opportunity. Lets learn also to give all the players in our league and abroad an opportunity to play in our national team.
POWER Dynamos’ decision to recruit Daniel Kabwe as coach for the club has declared loud their intentions of dominating the local championship.
Kabwe, who is currently interim chairperson of the Zambia Football Coaches Association, is a mature, experienced, sober and competent coach.
He has, since retiring from Zambia National Commercial Bank, invested in his coaching career.
Last November, he went back to England for eight weeks for his final assessment and certification of the UEFA B pre-requisite.
This is a level below UEFA B. A candidate is able to demonstrate competence in coaching football using the Football Association learning methods.
The course helped Kabwe to understand the English DNA of grooming players at all levels based on long-term player development (LTPD), with emphasis on a four-corner model, which is technical, physical, psychological, and social.
His final assessment comprising eight coaching practicals earned him attachment to Bristol City as the programme was under Bridgwater College in Bristol.
Kabwe’s joining Power has come at the right time because part of the requirement of the course was that upon completion of this stage, he should practise for 12 months before being admitted for UEFA at the end of 2016.
So, Kabwe’s road map in returning to soccer full-time was well planned.

I watched tht game between power and kabwe warriors i thnk ths coach can do better becoz he does a lot of toking and wistling nt the way ba lwandamina use to do it jst sitting ngabanaka elo baimininako, p.phiri has done hs part lets try others and ths is the right tournament to asses him, lets wait and see.
” Things fall apart” best describes zambian football. It shud start with faz, kamanga n his team are still basking in groly of winning elections. Ts time to get to work, otherwise, zambia will become a useless nation in terms of football. Grow up kamanga n face reality. Government will not follow u but follow government if u nid help. I challenge u
to tell us if u approached government n they chased u. Shame andrew…
