Daka, Fashion and Banda trio likely to lead charge against Tanzania

The Chipolopolo Boys will this evening (Wednesday) take on Tanzania at the 15,000 capacity Amani Stadium in Zanzibar in a Group E FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Coach Avram Grant will be hoping to guide his side back to winning ways away in East Africa to keep the Copper Bullets World Cup dream alive though the chances are very slim.

Leicester City forward Patson Daka has been the clear favorite to lead the attack in Avram Grant’s tenure.

The Kafue Celtic product is the highest goalscorer for Chipolopolo among active players with 21 strikes to his name.

Despite his limited game time at club level, Daka has almost always delivered for Chipolopolo.

Grant could also decide to start Kennedy Musonda who was key in Zambia’s 2026 AFCON qualification journey with 3 goals in the absence of Patson Daka.

Alongside him, Al Fahya winger Fashion Sakala the showman who is eying his 10th goal for Chipolopolo is expected to start on one wing.

His dribbling skills , pace and drive to get into the box could come in handy against a resolute Taifa Stars side this evening.

On the other wing; US Lecce’s Lameck Banda is likely to start as Avram Grant looks to go for the kill.

Banda has the ability to take on defenders and could come in handy to create opportunities for Patson Daka or Kennedy Musonda.

Edward Chilufya also offer an alternative for Grant with Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba also able to slot into the wing role.

Clatous Chota Chama could also be used on the wing should Grant decide to twerk his system.

Both Tanzania and Zambia are hoping to bounce back from losses, Zambia lost to Morocco while the Taifa suffered a home loss to Niger and a will could consolidate their hold on Second place in Group E.

The Taifa Stars are second in the group on 10 points with Niger lying third on nine while Zambia has six in fourth place.

Morocco has already secured their qualification with 21 points while three teams in Group E still have a chance to finish second and hope for a place among the four best-placed teams to make it to the play-offs.

The match kicks off at 21h00 at the Amani Stadium and will be live on SuperSport.
