Coton Sport head coach Souleymanou Aboubakar has emphasized that there are no easy games at this stage of competition ahead of the Matchday 3 CAF Confederation Cup tie against NAPSA Stars.
Speaking during the first pre-match conference ahead of the match to be played at National Heroes Stadium this afternoon, Coach Aboubakar stated the importance of collecting a positive result.
“Our ambition is to go as far as the final. If you look at the group, there is no easy team. As a result, if you get even one point. It’s already an advantage,” Coach Aboubakar said.
Coton Sport team captain Oukine Felix has said that he and his teammates are determined to collect at least a point from the game.
“You know, in the group, we are all fighting to get a point. To get that point, we need to work hard. We will continue working hard for us to be first or second in the group,” Felix said.
On previously eliminating Green Eagles and facing another Zambian side in the form of NAPSA Stars, Coach Aboubakar went on to mention that stakes are different.
“The game we played with Green Eagles was at the knockout stages. Now the best teams from the knockout stages have found themselves in the group stage. Meaning these are the best teams. It is a different competition,” he cautioned.
Coach Aboubakar expressed his appreciation to NAPSA Stars for aiding Coton Sports with training kits.
“We are very grateful to NAPSA Stars for the gesture. They have shown that we as Africans can exchange clothes easily. That is the way Africans should live,” he said.
“We are very satisfied with training kits and quality of footballs provided by NAPSA. We don’t feel like we are facing our opponents in NAPSA Stars, but that we are playing against our brothers,” Coach Aboubakar concluded.
NAPSA Stars will be looking to collect maximum points. The Pensioners currently sit bottom of the table with one point. Coton Sport are in second position on 3 points. Match kick-off time is 1500h.
