Copper Queens Visit FIFA World Football Museum

The Zambia Women’s National Team took advantage of their European camp to visit the colourful FIFA museum in Zurich, Switzerland that was created by the world football’s governing body to help collect and display the history of football.

The Copper Queens were taken through the tour by FIFA museum staff and made their first stopover at Planet football which has been described as the most visually impressive part of the FIFA museum facing the entrance of the facility.

It was at the football planet where jerseys from all 211 FIFA members including Zambia are displayed in a circular cabinet known as rainbow. Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda presented a new set of KoPa to replace the KoPa kit that was currently on display.

Another Zambian memorabilia on display at the museum is Banda’s jersey no. 11 jersey from Zambia’s Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

“We would like to thank FIFA and FIFA museum for this very important tour that has motivated the team ahead of the World Cup, there is so much beautiful history on display here and we are glad as Zambia to be a part of it, from when we joined FIFA to the jerseys and other things that are here,” Banda said.

“We were excited to see the trophy and while we came to Switzerland to play the friendly, it was great to stop here in Zurich to see the rich football history that is hosted here, thanks to FIFA museum once more.”

The Copper Queens also toured the World Cup Gallery that has among other trophies, the FIFA World Cup trophy lifted by Argentina’s Lionel Messi and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be handed to this year’s winner.
