Copper Queens up to 94th on FIFA Coca-Cola Rankings

The Zambia Women’s National Team, The Copper Queens have climbed 10 places up in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, moving to 94 from 104.

The Queens remain 12th on the continent though they have moved closer to Senegal who is 11th with just 17 points separating the two teams. This is Copper Queens’ highest-ever ranking.

The rise comes after an impressive showing at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics where they played to a 4-4 draw with China in the Group F fixture at Miyagi Stadium on 24 July.

The Bruce Mwape drilled lasses lost 10-3 to Netherlands and 1-0 to Brazil in the other fixtures at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Next up for the Queens is the COSAFA Women’s Championship where they have been drawn in Group C alongside Namibia, Eswatini, and Uganda.

The tournament will run from September 15-26 in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.
