Copper Queens to have a feel of match venue…as big guns join camp

The Copper Queens are expected to have a feel of the match venue for Wednesday’s 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Namibia, the 24,000 capacity Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto South Africa. 

The 2022 WAFCON bronze medalists will train from the match venue today at 15h00 to have a feel of the pitch in readiness for tomorrow’s encounter. 

Meanwhile United States of America based winger Prisca Chilufya is the only player that is yet to arrive in South Africa to complete coach Nora Elizabeth Häuptle’s squad.

Chilufya will be the last one to arrive later today to complete Häuptle’s squad for the game. 

The trio of midfielder Grace Chanda and Turkish based duo of Lushomo Mweemba and Martha Tembo, both of Hakarrigucu arrived this morning to boost the squad ahead of the first leg tomorrow. 

The arrival of the trio adds to the foreign contingent already in camp comprising Rachael Kundananji of Bay FC, Ireen Lungu (Sichuan-China) and Xiomara Mapepa (Beijing Jingtan FC-China).

Zambia plays Namibia tomorrow (Wednesday) in the first leg, final round Morocco 2025 WAFCON qualifier at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The return leg will be played on Sunday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
