Nothing nice to say about the game, It was a bad game- Chiyangi

Green Buffaloes boss Aggrey was left fuming and disappointed after his side conceded a late goal to draw the match 1-1 with Nchanga Rangers at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

Chiyangi felt his players could have done better by defending well and seeing off the match which they almost won.

The former Chipolopolo boss believes his players should have been communicating and alerting each other to defend better and avoid conceding a late goal.

He felt his side became complacent towards the end of the match which cost them maximum points and had to settle for a point.

“Firstly, it’s a very painful draw because we were leading and the game had ended. We went into injury time. And the only thing that we needed to do was to make sure that we closed all the channels that they can go through.

” But I think we missed it just a little bit. For instance, the players did not fight so hard on defending that ball. Yes, it was a breakdown. One player made the breakdown. But again, we had the chance to defend that ball properly. But then it’s like our players relaxed a bit. And that’s how we gave that goal because it’s a painful draw.Especially If you’re focusing on achieving something. I think the players need to fight a bit harder,” he said.

“I think for the previous game against Zanaco, I think that one, I wouldn’t blame anyone because the players did all their best. And it was a very tough game. But for this one, this one, I don’t think there’s anything good that we can say. We can only say that we haven’t had a good game. It was a bad game. We were on top, but I think the players relaxed on that ball, which is not supposed to be the case. Because what I know, when you’re players and the game has ended, you need to talk to each other, alert each other, warn each other and make sure that you defend that ball. But now we didn’t take that responsibility. That’s how we allowed that goal because you defend properly for 90 plus minutes, and then you come and allow such a goal. I think it’s not good for the team,”  he added.

Chiyangi is however still confident his side will qualify to the ABSA Cup as they have seven games before week 17 to finish in top 7 in the first half of the 2025/2026 MTN Super League season.

“Yes, our focus is still qualifying for the ABSA Cup. Despite what has happened today, we can’t lose hope. We have to keep fighting because we still have seven games to go. So out of those seven games, we just have to fight,” he said.

“For our fans the only thing is that we have disappointed them today. Look at the massive support they gave us and at the end of the day we disappoint them. We just have to work extra hard and do our best so that next time we put a smile on their faces.”

Benson Kolala scored in additional time to cancel Perkins Mumba’s opener and rescue a point for Brave Nchanga Rangers away at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
