Copper Queens: Rhoda Chileshe returns, Natasha Nanyangwe summoned as Katongo leads 30 member squad

Rhoda Chileshe has made her return to the national team set up after being out for over two years.

The Indeni Roses midfield general has been named in coach Bruce Mwape’s 30-member squad for next month’s fixture against a combined FAZ Women’s Super League select team.

Chileshe suffered a knee injury during a Tokyo 2020 Olympics final round first leg qualifier against Cameroon away in Yaoundé on 5th March, 2020 and has since been in and out of the treatment room before finally making a return to action at her club.

Midfield ace Evarine Susan Katongo has made the squad alongside other impressive youngsters like Esther Siamfuko, Lubasi Pumulo, Jessy Zulu, Esther ‘Gelo’ Banda.

Green Buffaloes impressive young striker Natasha Nanyangwe has also been handed a call up following her exploits with the Zambia army sponsored outfit.

The game against a joint Zone A and B select team will act as part of preparations for the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), and offers Mwape a platform to pick players ahead of the AWCON in Morocco in July.

39 players comprising 19 from Zone A and 20 players from Zone B will face-off on Saturday and the top performing players will be named in the squad against the Copper Queens to be played on the weekend of 16-17 April.
