Copper Queens off to South Africa for 2024 COSAFA

An all-local assemblage of the Copper Queens has set off for Gqeberha for the 2024 Hollywoodbets Cosafa Women’s Championship.

Zambia are in Group C alongside Angola and Comoros and will have an Independence Day clash with the Angolans before winding down with the Islanders.

The Copper Queens have reached the last four in each of the last seven editions and were crowned champions in 2022.

Cosafa has mandated participating teams to prioritise women coaches for the regional tournament with Zambia appointing Florence Mwila to lead the team.

Mwila will be assisted by ZISD Women FC head coach Enala Simbeye Phiri and William Zulu of ZESCO Ndola Girls.

The team left aboard Kenya Airways at 09:15 hours.
