The Zambia Women’s national team has finally left for Colombia for the two FIFA international friendly matches.
A locally assembled Zambia Senior Women National Team has left for South America on Thursday night departing Kenneth Kaunda international Airport shortly after 22:00hrs.
The team was supposed to travel on Wednesday but Following a visa glitch, the itinerary to Colombia was adjusted.
The local players will be joined by six foreign based Copper Queens stars and some Green Buffaloes Women FC players who will connect directly to Cali from Morocco.
Defender Martha Tembo has been excused from duty on compassionate grounds. Her childhood and family friend Lushomo Mweemba has accompanied Tembo to Lusaka from Morocco while striker Barbara Banda is unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions in China.
Zambia plays Colombia on November 12th and 15th in Cali in FIFA A grade international friendly matches.
The Copper Queens are in Group C alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica while Colombia will face Germany, Morocco and South Korea in Group H at the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
