Copper Queens set to jet off to Colombia tonight

The Zambia Women’s national team will this evening travel to Cali, Colombia for their two international friendly matches against the Power Puff Girls. 

Coach Bruce Mwape’s squad is expected to leave for Cali at 21:00hrs from the Kenneth Kaunda international Airport.

The Foreign based players are expected to link up with the team in Cali from their respective bases. 

The Copper Queens will square off with the Las Chicas Superpoderosas in two matches as part of the two teams preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. 

The Copper Queens will play the fellow  World Cup bound side on November 12th and 15th at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali.

The Power Puff Girls are the second highest ranked team in South America and 27th in the World. They were also  the runners up at the 2022 Copa América Femenina losing 1-0 to Brazil. 

Both teams are using the two matches as part of their preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia.

The Copper Queens were drawn in Group C for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup alongside Spain. The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be staged from July 20 to August 20 in 2023.
