Zambia Women’s National Team has been drawn in Group C alongside Namibia, Eswatini and East African Guests Uganda at this year’s COSAFA Women’s Championship to be staged in Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa from 15th – 26th September 2021.
The Copper Queens who came out third at last year’s event and have been coming close to clinching the title will have to overcome challenges from neighbor’s Namibia, Eswatini, and guests Uganda who made a late entry replacing Comoros Island at this showpiece which could act as a preparatory venture for the upcoming 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers in October of which the same tournament will also be a passage to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Hosts and defending Champions South Africa who has won the last four editions have been drawn in a tricky group together with Angola, Malawi, and Mozambique while 2020 Runners-up Botswana are in Group B with Zimbabwe and guests nations South Sudan and Tanzania.
Only the top teams in each group qualifiers to the semi-finals plus the second best-placed side complete the line-up.
This will be the fourth time in a row Nelson Mandela Bay will be hosting this regional tournament which has been a success in all the years and will be played at Isaac Wolfson and Gelvandale Stadium.
This tournament is expected to be held under strict guidelines of Covid-19, including a bubble for all teams and officials.
