The Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens, held a recovery session at Mutesa II Stadium in Kampala on Monday evening as preparations continued for their 2028 Olympic qualifier against Uganda.
The session was designed to help the players recover from the fatigue of the journey after the team arrived in Kampala earlier on Monday.
Interim head coach Charles Haalubono and his technical staff put the 22 players currently in camp through a light recovery programme as the squad stepped up preparations for Thursday’s first-leg encounter.
The Copper Queens are expected to be further strengthened by the arrival of strikers Racheal Kundananji, Prisca Chilufya and Mercy Chipasula, who will complete the squad for the two-legged Olympic qualifying tie.
Captain Barbra Banda has already joined the team in Kampala, along with defenders Margaret Belemu, Martha Tembo and Lushomo Mweemba, and midfielder Ireen Lungu.
Zambia will face the Crested Cranes of Uganda on Thursday, 8 October 2026, at Hamz Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 hours Zambian time.
The second leg will be played in Zambia, with the aggregate winner advancing to the next stage of the Olympic qualifying campaign.
