Copper Princesses off to Yaoundé on World Cup mission

The Zambia U17 Women’s National Team has left for Cameroon ahead of this Friday’s 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Third Round, Second Leg qualifier against Cameroon.

The 20-member Copper Princesses’ side left aboard Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 862 this afternoon.

Coach Kaluba Kangwa’s lasses need to overturn the 2-0 first leg defeat suffered at Nkoloma stadium on 15 April.

Jessy Zulu, Blessings Zangose Zulu and Lucy Kajiya will be three tasked with getting the goals for the team.

Skipper Lubasi Pumulo is the mastermind in the middle of the park and needs to come to the party if the Copper Princesses have to tick away in Yaoundé.

The return match against Cameroon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

The winner over two legs will go on to face either Burundi or Tanzania in the fourth round.

The Copper Princesses are aiming for their second ever World Cup qualification.

Zambia made their maiden appearance at the showpiece back in 2014 with the likes of Hazel Nali, Mary Wilombe, Grace Chanda and Barbra Banda leading the team.

Only 3 slots are allocated to Africa at the World Cup to be hosted by India later this year in October.
