Zesco United midfielder Clatous Chama will leave the club during the January transfer window to join Egyptian club Ittihad Alexandria.
The development was revealed by the Egyptian club on their official website ittihadclub.com on Wednesday that Chama, had signed a three and a half year contract effective January 2017.
The 25 year old was instrumental in helping Zesco United reach the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League where they lost to eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Egyptian club is not new to Zambian players as Felix Katongo and Patrick Ngoma have both played at the club albeit their stints ending in disputes.
Katongo terminated his contract mid-way and saw him stay out of action for a long time after a protracted dispute between the midfielder and the club.
He has only returned to action this season.
Patrick Ngoma also came back from Alexandria citing unfufiled contractual obligations by the club.

Why did CCC risk to sign for such a Club which has bad record with Zambian footballers then? Wasn’t the young man advised?
Wonder why Zesco has not advised him. what has changed with this club after the sagas of Felix n patrick.
He’s foolish. How can he go to the club where his countrymen ditched due to disputes?
who is the agent for this club, zambians shud be careful same problems
Let’s hope he will not be the victim and i wonder who the agent is
bad move better to go to Enugu rangers international in nigeria
Agree with you guys. This is silly
Enugu Rangers players will jump at any chance
to play in North Africa.
Its good move . If it was not a good move he was not going to accept the offer.. Patrick and Felix floped . They failed to read and understand their contracts.. If the boys were good why did they fail to attract other clubs.. What happened to fayo and Katebe.. Chama boy i wish you good luck
well, looking at this club and it’s history with Zambian players, I would say he made a poor choice. Why? Numbers don’t lie and history tends to repeat itself. Moreover, North-Africa never quite worked for our players, look at at mayuka, his now a mere spectator! All the same, wish him well. He may just be that ray of hope.
In life we should always learn from the mistakes of others. The track record of this club with Zambian players is well documented and yet this man decides this is where he wants to go. SMH!
…it seems playing abroad for its own sake has become a status thing for some of these guys and their misguided agents.
chama good pray but why going egpty.we hoped to for big clubs but its time.
Stupid and useless move why waste time with teams that do feature in caf or cofenderation
Egypt is a strong African nation to soothe you people. But this is a bit like Kalengo’s move to the Congo. Well, we also have some players from other African countries coming to play in Zambia. Football is growing on the continent. I think there is another gear in CCL’s football development.
Guys lets be fair to the Egyptian Clubs! Despite the likes of Katongo, Sate Sate, Ngoma, Mayuka and others flopping the Egyptians still come calling for our average players! Accept the fact that it is now embarrasing that non of our so called stars are able to cut it in Notrh African leagues! Why?! Chama is average, may end up the same way. Our only forlon hope is Walter Bwalya at the moment. That is if he keeps away from booze.
It is not zambian players alone but African players at large is this not the same club that disclose the HIV stutes of a player from cameroum so its not a good move very bad indeed he should have try israel instead of this club
This is the end of clatous chama as far as football is concerned. Next we will hear him in thailand.
He should hv joined orlando pirates
