FAZ Division One Southern Province outfit River Plate Football Club on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of former Zambia Under 17 Assistant Coach Christopher ‘Gazza’ Tembo as part of its Technical Bench headed by former Zanaco striker Makundika Sakala.
The 54-year old’s inclusion to the River Plate technical bench is in the view of qualification to the Eden University/National Division One.
In coaching, Tembo won the Coca-Cola Cup in 2001, FAZ Super League, and Mosi Cup titles in 2002 while serving as an assistant coach for Zanaco FC.
In 2005, he guided Nakambala Leopards to the Superleague and left the team in 2007, and joined Nampundwe FC in 2008 as a head coach. In 2009, he joined Afritex Football Club of Kafue, City of Lusaka FC 2010.
In 2011, he left the country for Botswana and he coached Ecco City Greens-Botswana FC where he spent only a year and made a return at the sugar boys in 2012.
In 2014, he made another move out of the country as his services were attracted by Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland and later on Manzini Sundowns- Swaziland before coming back in the country to coach City of Lusaka FC and Lusaka City Council in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
Coach Gazza had another stay at Malanti Chiefs in 2017 until 2018 before he joined Lusaka Dynamos and made a return to Swaziland to rejoin Malanti Chiefs in 2019.
