Green Eagles football Club collected maximum points after a 1-0 Victory over Green Buffaloes in a Rescheduled week 7 MTN/FAZ Superleague match played at Independence Stadium on the 4th of December, 2019.
Green Eagles Head Coach Aggrey Chiyangi admitted that the match was not easy but revealed that he told his charges to go the extra mile to see to it that the maximum points remained at Independence Stadium.
“It was a very tough game Buffaloes came well organized they were tight in defense it was very difficult for us to go through but we talked to the boys that no matter what happens we really have to push and get a goal and fortunately that is what happened, we needed that goal at least to get three points at home,” he said.
Chiyangi was also quick to heap praise on striker Shadreck mulungwe’s performance. Mulungwe came in as a second-half substitute and found the back of the net for Eagles.
“What is important on Shadreck is that we have been building him up but it has taken him so long to understand why, but now his ability to fight to start from training and even when he comes in his ability to show,” he said.
“Technically he is very good if you see the goal that he has scored some of the players could have missed it but he has very good accuracy.”
He added that despite getting draws in the two games prior to playing Buffaloes he was still happy with the teams’ performance thus far and is looking forward to the weekend games which he believes will not be easy.
“The two draws in Ndola and kitwe those were excellent results the players fought very hard, you know playing against Nkana at home and Zesco it was not easy but the worst result we said must be a draw, not a loss,” he said.
“Coming to the Saturday game it will be tough these are not normal league games these are service games and our Commanders are emphasizing that we have to win so even on Saturday we have to work very hard.”
“CAF Slots is one of our goals this season but it’s too far it’s too early for me to comment on that, there are so many games to play. We haven’t even reached the halfway mark, so all we have to do is to make sure that we capitalize on our home games win more games at home and pick some games away as we travel,” he added.
Chiyangi also threw some advice in Tapson Kaseba’s way telling the striker to work on his decision making.
“He needs to work hard. He is getting chances but the final decision is what is lacking. The goodness is that he is getting into goal scoring positions but the decision at the end that’s where he is making mistakes, ” he said.
Green Eagles are fifth on the Log table with nineteen (19) points after ten (10) games played. On Saturday the 7th of December 2019 Green Eagles will be welcoming third-placed team Red Arrows.
