Ghana lose to join Zambia and SA in Plate Competition

The Chipolopolo will this Wednesday play rivals Ghana in the Plate tournament of the 2015 Cosafa Cup after the West African giants who are playing as guests were shown the door by a determined Madagascar side.

The Black Stars who came in the competition with a reputation found themselves on the back foot when a well taken free kick beat Dauda but they pulled one back with a powerful volley from about 35 yards which the Madagascar should have saved.

Madagascar scored the winner late when a sublime shot from the right which could have easily been meant for a cross tucked into the far angle leaving the Ghanaian keeper stranded on his line.

Ghana coach said: That is football you can do whatever you can but when you concede a goal at that hour, there is nothing you can do, congrats to Madagascar.

Ghana joins defending champions Zambia and hosts South Africa in the semi finals of the plate tournament to be played on Wednesday 27th May, 2015.

Zambia and Ghana have in recent past built an interesting rivalry and the mouth-watering encounter will save to spur some interest in a dejected Zambian team and fan base.

    • We have no rivalry with ZAMBIA. We are in different classes in terms of soccer. Period. Even FIFA knows. Where is the rivalry? Keep on dreaming In broad daylight. The local Black Stars will give the full strength Chipolos a run for your money.

      • Can you first say that again? I mean M.A.D.A.G.A.S.C.A.R!!!? Please stop hyping your team Madagascar wasnt a team we used to count as COSAFA material team until yesterday! All I could see was a long big Ghanaian tail right in the middle of hind legs almost touching the chin! It was almost funny seeing Ghana really struggling to contain the Islanders.

        • M.A.D.A.G.A.S.C.A.R. is now above the COSAFA defending champions and also the powerhouse of Southern Africa soccer – The Republic of South Africa. Madagascar is not Cosafa material and after winning the tournament, u call yourselves champions. what an irony. How many countries are Cosafa material? oh boy!!!!!!! We need some regrouping.

    • Ohh! BRO,–FLIGHT-15 , I AM AN OLD DUDE AND AN ACCOUNTANT.
I DONT HAVE WASSUPLINE ACCOUNT..MY OLDER SON HAVE WHICH HE USES TO PLAY WITH THE GURLS..I AM A RESPONSIBLE PERSON..I AM NO MORE YOUNG..

BRO, THANKS FOR ASKING, BUT WE ARE STILL FRIENDS..

      GOD BLESS YOU..

  1. Ghana is a good team they can come back from this. Zambia on the other hand is rubbish with that useless Jackson mwanza.

  2. Jackson mwanza is so useless I wonder what hour is doing in the team. Surely Rodgers kola is better than that nonsense Jackson mwanza

  3. I’m slowly losing in th Zambia national soccer team. Losing is now our new Nickname, if u watch ba zambia frm home u thn u ar not safe, thz days u need to watch th zambia national team frm any nearest Hospital/clinic or Drug store inorder to b assured of safety. Ghana will feast on us in th spoon kapena plate category.

  4. I’m slowly losing interest in th Zambia national soccer team. 5. Its pathetic to watch the Chipolopolo these days. There is no coordination in the team and strikers don’t even know what to do in front of goal. Janza has failed coz he hasn’t brought anything new. One wonders who selects the team and what they look at when picking certain players like jackson, bornwell, donashano etc. Wishing Ghana all the best coz we are tired of this. What does Chintu know about coaching. He failed at Kabwe Warriors then you keep him at the national level. Can someone sort out this nosense at FAZ.

  6. Since now we past the learning curve from Namibia game,it still pains me that clown of a coach saying that we were learning from Namibia surely, I expect us to white wash our brothers the Black Stars.

  7. Zambia should beat the so called black stars that they go back to Kumasi winless. The Ghanaians had been,in the past, making vere derogatory statements about COSAFA.So they need to be told a good lessorn.at one point they even called it CASSAVA tournament. But wat has hit them in the end.knocked out by Madagascar.

  8. This plate tournament contains teams that should have made it to the sime final proper without difficulties but all of them were disgraced by the so called minnows, Zambia & South Africa should really think long & had about their football i’ve excused Ghana cause they are guests I would have said something similar if it were a WAFU tournament

  9. for the record the Ghanaian team playing at the cosafa isn’t the regular blackstars Africa knows. Its made of inexperienced local players.

Most of them if not all haven’t kicked an afcon ball before (except Dauda).

In Ghana no one even knows we played a match today or yesterday (whatever the day was).

    • Eat your Humble pie my bro. Just accept you were beaten by a minnow and you are trying hard to rubbish the team that played. Be it known or unknown players, Ghana lost and like Zambia should have no shame accepting that and move on. Ghana or Zambia does not become a team when the “Stars” are there. It’s the country they represent, the flag bwana!

      • Who cares about COSAFA? What is it in real sense? Nothing. Let us strive to qualify for world events & not COSAFA which has no name. Be COSAFA champions & ur name doesn’t travel beyond the Zambezi .

    • Yes to some extent but ZAMBIA is more useless as the full strength was paraded by ZAMBIA. That is however no excuse for Ghana. We should at the same time be cognizant of the fact that with the exception of one or two players, none of the Ghana players were called for the last AFCON. We shall meet on Wednesday & decide who is worst amongst the poor performing teams.
Indeed, all said & done Ghsna should have at least drawn against Madagascar in regular time. Bravo Madagascar

    • Some two ways about it. Parading a third or fourth team, the expectations should not be the same. It depends on the relative importance attached to the game. Do u think Ghana will feature these players for the World Cup qualifiers? Your guess is as right as mine. This does not negate the fact that Madagascar has triumphed over Ghana at the 2015 COSAFA. It would have been a different story if Madagascar had pounced Ghana at the World Cup qualifiers. I am in no way trying to give excuses BUT that is the undeniable reality in that the relative importance attached to a game/tournament determines the financial resources. time & preparation invested into it

  10. I have a weird feeling, I think I will be supporting Ghana to wallop us so that we can officially go back to the drawing board. I have been condemning FAZ, Kalusha, Coaches and the so called unTechnical Team all i was getting was I am not patriotic, I am still repeating, fire Janza, and ‘rehabilitate’ the entire FAZ. Period.

  11. I’ve always said this that ghana is a country full of geat players but have one of the worst teams on the continent. Let them just swallow their pride and go to harve renard. Renard may not be tactically gifted, you can tell by some of the formations and substitutions he makes but, he is a great motivator. that is what Ivory Coast needed. Like Ghana, as a coach you dont need to teach Ivorians a whole lot of football, its already in them, its part of their DNA and to boot, most of them are so good that they already get world class coaching from the great clubs they belong to. so their isnt much work to do except pure motivation, put fire in their bellies with a bit of tough love.

    • Ghana one of the worst teams on the continent? Which continent do u live on? Comments are free but this is hard to buy. One of the best teams in Africa is seen by U as one of the worst? Go to tell FIFA to redo their rankings becos of your observation.

  12. Thinking thru the outcome of this COSAFA- All senior teams booted out ! One thing comes to my mind- coming into the tourney @ quarter final stage without participating inthe group stage robs u of game time and that affects your fitness level. By the time u want to warm up, your friends are oredy warmed up. To our friends from Ghana, FIFA ranking has no effect on the field of play. In 2012 we walloped highly rated and fancied Senegal, Ghana and Ivory Coast enroute to minting gold @ the Afcon. Wether there’s rivalry between Ghana and Zambia I will not say but one thing is certain, we denied Ghana an Afcon final and they encouraged themselves that it was a fluke; they came to Zambia few months later for World cup qualifier, we beat them by the same painful one nil margin. They were haunted by the two consecutive beating that they trembled greatly when we went for a return match in Kumasi resulting in threats from people like Muntari who openly confesed that it was too much for Zambia to sit on Ghana’s hapiness. The game ended 2-1 in favour of Ghana in a game Zambia were inthe class of their own and outplayed Ghana in their own backyard. I’ve seen some posts indicating Zambia to be at the Cosafa with a full strength team, I don’t quite agree because most of our key players are not there the likes of Rainford master Kalaba, Sunzu, play maker Chisamba Lungu, rising star Lubambo Musonda, hard tackling Kabaso Chongo, hardworking and goal poacher Singuluma, among others. Inthe game against Namibia the following are the only regulars for the Chipolopolo: Mweene,Mbola,Munthali, Mtonga; and how to you call that full strength team? With a good tactician, Zambia can rise to a soccer power house in Africa co we have great talent.

    • well the Ghanaian coach is the black stars asst.
The only regular player is our third choice keeper Dauda.

All other players are trial players

    • The Ghana team at Cosafa has the asst coach ad head. The only familiar player is Dauda who is the 3rd choice keeper of the black stars now(he is being the opportunity to impress lol)

  13. all the players are trial players. Ghana always gets more talent cos we give more and more players tournament experience.

At the last Afcon most of the black stars players were unknown but they lived up to expectation without the big guns.

It may have cost us the cup cos cote d’ivore beat us with experience. Anyway I accept that Ghana lost in cosafa but fact is fact, Ghana will never parade the asst coach,3rd choice keeper and amatuers to a serious competetion. Just know u aren’t playing the true Ghana
