CHIPOLOPOLO SHOWING: The Best Teams Are Built On Consistency

𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐎 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐏𝐀𝐑

Of the 7 matches played, 2 wins were recorded in the qualifying campaign. Well, the other one wasn’t played, it was a board room decision to award 3 points and 3 goals – should have been the away leg against Congo.

So if we take that as 3 wins in 8 matches, that’s a 37% win rate – can’t get anywhere near the World Cup with such.

Beaten home and away by both Morocco and Niger. Also beaten at home by Tanzania. No draws recorded. That’s a 63% loss rate. It’s a terrible return.

In the 7 played matches, 7 goals were scored, 10 allowed. Unfortunately, if you are going to score at 1.0 goals per game and can’t defend, forget having a seat at the top table.

In this campaign, there has been only 1 clean sheet. Three different starting goalkeepers and multiple defensive line combinations. There has been no consistency in this regard – if you ask me, that’s too much chopping and changing over 7(8) matches.

The best teams are built on consistency.

It’s also been hard to see Leaders in the team – even some of the average teams over the years have always had one or two players that show leadership on the pitch. Against Morocco in the home leg, Kings Kangwa appeared to have taken that role but it’s the only match where that was present, again, 1 in 7(8), not good enough.

Generally, Zambia has been poor throughout this campaign and with the AFCON just about two months away, at the risk of seeming or sounding like a broken record, there is a lot of work to do.

Whichever lens you use, you can see that for this qualification series Chipolopolo has been Below Par!
