Chipolopolo off to Dubai as Egypt abort Senegal friendly

The Zambia national team has left for Dubai where they will play Egypt.

The Chipolopolo trained on Friday afternoon afternoon in Lusaka before departure which was scheduled for 2300hrs Zambian time.

Collins Mbesuma, Kennedy Mweene, Stoppilla Sunzu, Chisamba and Nathan Sinkala were all part of the training session as the technical bench welcomed back the local players who had been released to feature for their clubs in the midweek fixtures.

Other foreign based players expected to be in the team are captain Rainford Kalaba and Lubambo Musonda.

The Chipolopolo will arrive in the UAE tomorrow (Friday) and will have Saturday to loosen up before the game on Sunday which will kick off at 1800hrs.

In another development, the Egyptians were today scheduled to play Senegal but the friendly match was cancelled after Senegal sent their U23 Olympic team to Abu Dhabi instead of the senior team, a decision the Egyptian authorities did not consent to, a ZamFoot source disclosed. Senegal opted to play the senior team against Algeria on Friday evening.

Egypt is now demanding a USD 100,000.00 for breach of contract by the Senegalese.

The Pharoahs will leave Abu Dhabi for Dubai tomorrow (Friday).

The tickets for the match have been pegged at USD 13.5, USD 27.2 and the most expensive ticket will go for USD 54.5 (approximately K654.00).

The rights to televise the match have been given to Dubai Sports Channel.

  5. hv u seen what the egyptian did to the senegalese, they want to play with sinior team not U-23. this shows how the serious they hv for 2018 world cup qualifier, not where u just want for U-23 and CHAN only, we need to prepare for all tounaments.

  6. we dont want to see experience players like CHISAMBA, SINKALA, KALABA, SUNZU, MBESUMA, LUBAMBO, KALENGO & MWEENE to sit on the bench it wil be a white wash, the currently egyptian team is hot ask nigeria, they dont hv a chance to qualify 4 afcon 2017.

  7. we hv to use 4-4-2 formation to strenthen our defence. IN GOAL, mweene, DEFENCE, chepeshi, mkandawire, sunzu & munthali. MIDFILDERS, sinkala, chisamba, kalaba & lubambo. ON TOP mbesuma & kalengo. we can get a positive results.

  8. Wish the Chipolopolo the best.

Off the mark, I watched last night’s friendly between the DRC and Nigeria on TV. It was boring and not as I expected. But the Kasai have a pygmy wearing Jersey number 13. He is as bad as they all come.
He mercilessly demolished Nigeria with his speed, dribble, pinpoint passes and accuracy. the Congolese were 1-0 up in the 7th minute and wrapped it up in the 30th Minute.
The Congolese are back, and Nigeria needs a lot of effort.
    DRC= 2: Nigeria =0

  10. Pigmy! What exactly does this imply ? If it is synonymous to pint sized player then Zambia has a lot of pigmies in their squad. Kkkkkkkkkkkkk just joking.

  11. I also watched the DRC vs Nigeria match last night on TV. DRC are on the up. They are strong, speedy and a good side. As for Nigeria, ehe, they have a lot of work to do.

  12. We have a mountain to climb against Egypt. For me the best team in Africa in football sense. And they are getting back to their merciless best and lets just hope we are not their for the slaughter.

My idea is that the coach should have summoned even more pros for this game and at the back our defenders really need to keep it neat because they will be twisted in 6s and 7s.

The best i can hope for is a draw otherwise a win for Zambia will be a huge upset.
    All the best.

  13. Why are people overrating Egypt ? The Pharaohs used to be an african power house. But their present team is not that strong: they couldn’t even make it to the Afcon2015, losing to Tunisia and Senegal (home and away).
