Chipolopolo Boys’ AFCON squad numbers revealed

The Chipolopolo Boys are now set for the 30th African Cup of Nations edition in Equatorial Guinea.

Coach Honour Janza unveiled his 23-man squad and after taking a grace look at the official list submitted to CAF, it is interesting to note the new squad numbers located to the debutants.

For the goalkeepers, Kennedy Mweene as usual will be in his no.16 with Danny Munyao and Joshua Titima given jersey no.1 and no.22.

When Elijah Tana finally retired, the shirt no.5 has been always between Hichani Himoonde and Nyambe Mulenga with the former having it at the 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 and it now seemed it was Nyambe’s turn but due to injury he has been ruled out of the tournament.

Zanaco winger Rodrick Kabwe, who is at the AFCON at a left back under-study is the one who will have the ‘Big 5’ shirt number.

Donashamo Malama and Chris Munthali will have no.2 and 4 respectively.

Other AFCON debutants like Bruce Musakanya (8), Spencer Sautu (7) and Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba (9), Lubambo Musonda (11) while Mukuka Mulenga will be wearing Felix Katongo’s no.10. At the last AFCON, Mukuka had no.23 which will now be worn by Patrick Ngoma.

Evans Kangwa (12), Kondwani Mtonga (14) and Jackson Mwanza (21) while the likes of Rainford Kalaba (17), Nathan Sinkala (19), Chisamba Lungu (3), Davies Nkausu (6), Emmanuel Mbola (18), and Stopilla Sunzu (13) have gone for their usual shirts numbers.

The returning Given Singuluma has stuck to his old shirt number 15 which he made his name with at the CHAN 2009.

  1. what about the jersey for the AFCON, the numbers were already published on Supersport.com but our interest is the shirts for the squad.

I hope they wont bring exactly what was worn in 2012, it needs some polishing interms of the actual green color. it used to look dirty when the boys sweat in them, we need a more shiny dark green like that of rep. of Ireland, Morrocco etc

    • FOOTBALL IS NOT PLAYED ON PAPER. The boys are confident and that’s all that they need plus a little commitment. That nothwithstanding, what happened to Brazil against Germany? This is football and any thing at all can happen. We are not going there as minnows. Erase that inferiority complex attitude from you mind. FOOTBALL IS NOT PLAYED ON PAPER

  2. Let’s hope these chaps organized a better Green jersey which looks bright like that of Rep of Ireland or Morocco. That orange looks very cheap and unattractive.

  3. these fools who are saying our team is weak who do u want to be in team who did well in 2013 those u are calling xperinced failed last dont eve talk about jacob he is good at club level with chipolopolo that boy is useless if janza left out yo brother shout up u fooool viva zambia

  4. I also think like wise Evans Kangwa must be the main striker for Zambia at this AFCON. Emmanuel Mayuka has been given a lot of chances and if he can not fire anymore we risk of exiting the tournament early you know goals count so we need Goals not appearances. At the end of the day they will count how many goals a team has scored the more scores wins the match

  5. SATE SATE,KANGWA,AND MWANZA IS THE BEST STRIKE COMBINATION THAT WE HAVE.IT HAS VISION,POWER,GOALS,POSSESION AND SPEED QUALITIES THAT ZAMBIA HAS LACKED IN A DECADE.
GO ZAMBIA GO!!! ITS JUBILEE TIME !!!
