Zambia 0 – 0 Mali (As it happened)

Chipoloplo coach George Lwandamina has rested Isaac Chansa and Dauti Musekwa and handed junior internationals Solomon Sakala, Spencer Sautu and Patson Daka starting berths in today’s CHAN final group D match against Mali.

Lwandamina has not tinkered with the formation which has helped Zambia reach the quarter finals and will see Skipper Christopher Katongo play just behind Daka where he flourished in the game against Uganda.

Cletous Chama and Sautu will support attack from the wide areas with Benson Sakala and Jack Chirwa forming the base for attack.

The back line sees the coming in of Solomon Sakala while Christopher Munthali has earned the right to partner Adrian Chama after a good performance against Uganda.

Jack Chirwa, Solomon Sakala, Benson Sakala, Spencer Sautu and Patson Daka were all part of the U23 national team that played at the CAF U23 championship last year.

Zambia XI v Mali

Jacob Banda (GK) – Solomon Sakala, Stephen Kabamba, Christopher Munthali, Adrian Chama – Jack Chirwa, Benson Sakala – Spencer Sautu, Chris Katongo (C), Cletus Chama – Patson Daka

  1. thanks ba coach for resting chansa & musekwa, they hav yellow cards coz we may miss them in quater finals, but i think donashano malama was better than solomon sakala. gud luky to our loved chipolopolo!

  2. gud lineup tho solomon in this case shud come hard, speedy & strong knowin dat our opponents wil go 4 goals to unsettle us & eventully win the game. patson is de likely scorer today. GO BOYS & KIP MAKING ZAMBIA PROUD.

  3. Go Zambia Go! This is a real blend of youth and experience. I foresee a more pacey game today. I can only congratulate the coaching bench for being bored enough to make appropriate changes at the right time. You can not go wrong with the team he has put up. Can it rain more than one goal for Zambia today please, fingers crossed!

  4. This will be a hard game, but it is a crucial match. Topping the group should be a priority in order to avoid Tunisia. So a draw or a win is important.

  5. Gudline up go chipolopolo go last game Christopher muthali en patson daka played very well as wel as clatous chama must win guys am expecting more goals 2day

  6. I expected George to make not less than 5 changes, this is Chan give everyone a platform to showcase there presence in Rwanda.

  7. While i agree patson is being marketed, which is ok,the boy put in a strong performance in the last game.he deserves the start,or who else? He can then be taken out in the 65′ for luchanga

A good through ball by Mali which splits the Zambian defence but Jacob is quick off his line.
Mali enjoying a good spell in attack

  10. Sautu is very wasteful and his passes are very poor. he will tire the attacking line. Patson Daka has also been very wasteful, very poor passes so far.

  11. 68’Zambia 0 – 0 Mali
Benson Sakala moves to right back, Buchizya moves in central defense while Adrian moves into midfield

  12. Watched second half. The team is lacking imagination and creativity up front, and this was made worse by Mali pressing the defense and causing them to play long balls. The central midfield is begging for a play maker or a box to box player to get this team into second gear.

  13. I felt that Daka and Katongo weren’t getting good balls; they were just fighting for balls our defenders and midfielders kicked forward almost aimlessly. We badly need a play maker that can hold the ball and pass more accurately!!

  14. Its good we didn’t lose. But this kind of display leaves much to be desired. No proper coordination and losing balls unnecessarily. Striking force is also blunt. I am not sure if we will go far in this tournament.

  15. Fair result; what was important was not to lose this match like i said earlier today. We have avoided the dangerous Arabs whom we can’t beat. We will now play Guinea in the quarter finals!

  16. That ref was very poor in officiating the match, hope we get a better ref in the Q8. A Gambian ref would be a good choice(just a wish) Anyway 0-0 was a fair result, I only the coach has better game plans for the upcoming matches in this tournament.

  17. Am glad that most Zambians heeded my plea to go to mtnfootball register and vote for zambia. Zambia is mow leading at 40% followed by DCR at 32 %, Nigeria at 15% and Rwanda at 3% as yhe most impressive sides at CHAN tournament.

  18. Zambia has been playing minus a topman.Patson Daka is very poor striker as this boy doesnt score goals.the Chipolopolo could have won this tournament if Lwandamina picked a good striker.in future games, please use Mulao or Conlyde Luchanga and never play Patson Daka and that Samson Sakala.those two are not national team material!!Spence Sautu must improve too!!

  19. @Eddy;Patson Daka is one of the most prolific striker we have in the country. He brings much more to the team than just goals.
