Chipasula wins RASA junior female sportswoman of the year 

Zambia U17 Women’s National Team captain Mercy Chipasula was on Saturday crowned as the Junior female sportsperson of the year at the Regional Annual Sports Awards 2025. 

Chipasula helped Zambia qualify to back to back FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups and also starred as the Copper Princesses won the 2024 COSAFA U17 Girls Championship where she was named as the player of the tournament and also walked away with the Golden Boot thanks to her 13 goals. 

The Kamfisa Police Blue Eagles forward saw off competition from Cricketer Kellys Ndlovu from Zimbabwe and Chess Master Natalie Katlego Banda from Botswana. 

Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda lost out on the Sportswoman of the year award as it went to Malawian Tabitha Chawinga. 

The biggest winner on the night in Harare was Letslie Tebongo of Botswana who won both the Sportsman and Sportsperson of the Year titles.
